Seeking a Portfolio Manager that will become part of the General Account Fixed Income (FI) Portfolio Management team that is focused on driving value for the fixed income assets for the General Account. The candidate will be responsible for a wide array of portfolio management activities across individual multi asset portfolios that support specific business segments, while working very closely with the team to ensure the overall strategic General Account portfolio goals are successful within given risk parameters.
Responsibilities will include:
Manage day-to-day activities of individual portfolios with the scope of maximizing yield/returns achievable within the guidelines while ensuring portfolios remain compliant within specified guidelines and maintain a proper risk profile.
Responsibility for dynamically managing allocations across different asset classes based on cash flow, asset allocation needs, duration and convexity and adherence to the overall business plan.
Provide capital market and cross market expertise to enhance the investment process.
Tactically adjust asset mix to coincide with changes in market conditions.
Perform ongoing analysis on sectors, issuers, spread movements, downgrade expectations to capitalize on any opportunities that could benefit the entire portfolio in terms of returns, capital, or risk efficiency.
Identify and analyze relative value opportunities which may be accretive to performance
Fully understand and incorporate analysis, performance attribution, risk exposures, NII projections, stress sensitivities to establish a feedback loop to enhance the management and drive greater value and decision making within the portfolio.
Work independently and collaboratively with a group of seasoned professionals to guide, consult, and influence investment decision making, exercise critical judgement across asset and sector allocations and implementation methods.
Participate and make meaningful contributions in strategy sessions to dynamically manage investments and risk within assigned portfolios while ensuring strategy is aligned with the overall strategic vision
Work with asset managers, business area, ALM group, actuarial and accounting communities to gain buy-in for new initiatives, hedging strategies, portfolio, and asset allocation strategies.
Coordinate, guide, and partner with quantitative research groups to drive investment strategies, improve investment frameworks and analysis, drive technology and process enhancements across the PM platform to deliver investment performance and consistency, identify opportunities to enhance return or capital and risk efficiency.
Employ and assist in enhancing relative value frameworks to identify tactical asset opportunities that consider portfolio goals and constrains from an asset allocation, market, insurance, and balance sheet perspective.
Perform optimizations to guide on tactical asset allocation decisions to improve yield while accounting for broad investment themes, risk appetite, liquidity needs, capital utilization and investment horizon.
Improve portfolio positioning
Coordinate with ALM group, derivatives area, and risk management to ensure alignment with business goals and parameters.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
Strong track record in managing complex cross sector insurance portfolios containing fixed income, real estate, and private credit.
A proven ability to think independently, having taken an innovative approach to investment and asset allocation strategy in past roles, ideally as it relates to insurance portfolio management.
Experience in critically analyzing different fixed income products, understanding the different risk factors, impacts to valuations and synthesize the information in a timely manner to drive confident decisions.
Experience in insurance general account investing and portfolio approach, including balance sheet, capital, and risk constraints.
Intellectual curiosity and ability to make thoughtful and timely decisions by taking smart risks and using informed judgment, confidence to have a point of view, irrespective of financial models.
Familiarity, ability, and knowledge to incorporate quantitative models and analytics within the investment management process.
Ability to navigate and work effectively in large, matrixed organization with multiple decision-makers and stakeholders.
Strong team player and desire to mentor and contribute to the professional development of others.
