Senior Graduate Medical Education Coordinator
Academic Training Department,
Reporting to the Director, GME Curriculum and Evaluation, the Senior Graduate Medical Education Coordinator will be responsible for enacting the programmatic and administrative functions of the Orthopaedic Residency Program and programs for medical students. The Senior Graduate Medical Education Coordinator will support Resident Monthly Meetings, Medical Student Advisory Committee, and resident competencies. S/he or they will participate in Academic Training projects and other graduate trainee programs as appropriate.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coordinates the residency program in accordance with the ACGME, IPRO, JCAHO, and ABOS standards and the Academic Training Department/Education Division policies and procedures.
Coordinates annual recruitment, selection, and evaluation process for orthopaedic residents
Ensures that the Orthopaedic Residency program adheres to ACGME standards including meeting case log minimums, Milestone achievements and work hour requirements.
Directs planning for annual program activities including the OITE, Resident Interviews and Graduation.
In collaboration with Director, GME Curriculum and Evaluation and Medical Staff Services coordinates on‐boarding process for Orthopedic Residents by ensuring credentialing initial and annual re‐appointments have been provided to Medical Staff Services, ensures trainees undergo appropriate employee on‐boarding and are provided with Hospital dress code necessities (i.e., scrub access and lab coats)
Ensures residents’ training files and ACGME ADS database entries are current and correct
Coordinates resident housing requests and liaise with HR and building superintendent and assist with monitoring housing budget and use of funds were appropriate.
Orients incoming medical students to HSS and coordinates Medical Student Summer Research Fellowship in collaboration with Director, GME Curriculum and Evaluation
Prepares agendas and minutes for education meetings, schedule meeting rooms and set zoom meetings.
Coordinates educational activities for rotating medical students from outside institutions including formal lectures and clinical experiences.
Coordinates Medical Student Rotations including curriculum guidelines, onboarding, and credentialing, scheduling and post rotation evaluations
Coordinates Resident Rotation Schedule and provides direction to residents and assists with planning, providing appropriate reporting to Finance department for reimbursement claims, and Coordinates residents’ clinical schedules based on hospital and ABOS Requirements.

Schedules and evaluates didactic educational programming for residents in conjunction with the Curriculum Committee (e.g., Morning Conference, OITE Review)
Liaison with HSS eAcademy staff to develop educational content using new technology platforms
Provides administrative support for departmental committees. Conduct planning and implement changes/corrective action as necessary. (Resident Competencies, Medical Student Advisory, Resident Monthly, 310 Committee)
Works with faculty committee chair to compile evaluation data for quarterly Resident Competencies Committee and prepares competency letters for residents.
Compiles biannual review rotation files for mentor-mentee meetings.
Compiles data on rotating medical students HSS Orthopaedic Resident Selection Committee
Compiles internal and external data appropriate to measure resident performance including rotation evaluations and faculty feedback from offsite rotations.
Ensures timely completion of medical student evaluations by faculty and residents
Bachelor’s Degree in public health, Health Administration, Education, or related field
Three (3) years of professional work-related experience coordinating multiple projects with attention to detail, excellent analytical, communication (verbal and written) skills, as well as networking and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to make decisions independently
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel & Access
Flexible work hours (7:00 am start required several days/month)
Three to five years of experience in graduate medical education or related area. At least, two of years supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of Accreditation Council Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Educational Commission Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), and related GME
