Perkins Coie LLP Senior Internal Communications Manager in New York, New York

Job Description:
Perkins Coie LLP has an immediate opening for a Senior Internal Communications Manager. The ideal candidate will provide seasoned leadership in the development and execution of internal communications strategies and programs that underscore the firm's business objectives and further internal engagement around the firm's strategy, culture, vision, and brand. Working closely with the Director of Communications and others, this professional will partner with and develop communications solutions for members of firm leadership and serve as a trusted advisor on internal communications approaches, channels, and issues.

Essential Functions:
Partner with a wide variety of cross-functional teams, including firm management, to develop and implement communications plans and strategies to ensure initiatives, projects, and priorities are successfully and consistently communicated to internal audiences.
Actively contribute to a number of ongoing firm communications efforts and proactively identify new opportunities and develop new programs to enhance our internal communications program.
Develop succinct and effective key messages, for firmwide and project-specific efforts, and ensure they, and the firm's voice, are effectively incorporated into all communications. Ensure internal messaging is aligned with external messaging.
Keep up-to-date on external best practices and relevant changes to the legal and professional services fields to ensure our programming is robust and current.
Plan, write, and edit internal content for a variety of channels in support of communications plans and priorities. This may include leadership emails and messaging, articles for internal newsletters or intranet, internal social media posts, presentations, video scripts, and talk points and FAQs, and more.
Develop timely and effective communications plans for internal issues and situations that affect organizational morale, perception, and reputation.
Develop emergency preparedness/business continuity plans and templates for internal communications.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing, business, or other relevant area.
5-7 years of experience in developing and executing internal communications programs for a large organization, with an ability to fluidly navigate between strategy and producing crisp, clear communications.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, including writing for a variety of different audiences, and writing for organizational leaders. Ability to develop strong first drafts in fluid situations is especially important.
Experience managing complex communications projects that involve multiple components and collaboration with multiple parties, and an ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Highly creative thinker that can bring to life messages, ideas, and programs in new ways that resonate with internal audiences.
Strong ability to visualize and guide how communications can be supported/augmented through design, video, and other visual and digital techniques and campaigns.
Ability to understand the overarching company strategy and communicate and model the core values of the firm.
Ability to develop good relationships across teams and departments and the ability to confidently and persuasively explain communications ideas and themes.
Experience with tracking internal communications progress and results a strong plus.
Proficient in MS Office Products (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel).
An independently motivated self-starter, who can work comfortably in a lead or supporting role.
