Job Description SummarySeeking an experienced nonprofit professional who is a resourceful self-starter, able to navigate complex organizations and manage varying priorities as a key contributor on a high-performing team. Reporting to the senior director of development services and supporting the development team, the senior manager of development services oversees Enterprise's Salesforce donor database; data analysis, reporting and stewardship; and compliance and liaising with cross-functional teams at Enterprise including finance, information technology, legal and operations management.
Manages overall data architecture of Salesforce donor database and integrity of constituent data
Performs essential functions including gift entry; managing grant agreements; pledge forms, stock and wire transfers, and other financial information; administering the proposal and grant approval and report management system; maintaining library of current materials and frequently used documents
Supports frontline fundraisers and grant writers in pipeline management and maintains moves management systems to help entire Resource Development team achieve financial and engagement activity goals
Conducts annual pipeline planning process ahead of the annual budgeting seasoning (fall of each year)
Works with the development team to optimize utilization of the Salesforce donor database system, assists in developing training materialsand provides hands-on training for team's specific application
Determines how to translate data into usable, actionable reports and information for the formation and execution of fundraising strategies
Provides Senior Vice President, Development & Communications with monthly data analysis and pipeline forecastand other special reports as requested
Oversees report requests, in partnership with IT, and dashboard development, in partnership with Data Analytics & Reporting, to ensure leadership is kept informed of financial progress and forecasts
Assesses departmental needs and provides guidance regarding protocols and procedures for gift acceptance and donor acknowledgement policies, including risk assessments and controls
Manages gift acknowledgement process including sending formal tax receipt and providing leadership with draft thank you notes to ensure major donors are recognized by leaders
Supports the goals and activities of the Resource Development and Communications team
Partners with fundraisers and program staff to ensure grant compliance
Advises fundraisers and event team members on compliance standards and state and federal regulations related to all fundraising including online appeals, direct mail, special events, etc.
Interfaces with IT to manage Salesforce donor database and integrations with other systems including cross-functional Salesforce applications and Workday
Collaborates with finance, legal and operations management to ensure Salesforce donor database system is compliant with Enterprise financial management policies and practices
Coordinates with finance to maintain accurate records; support monthly and year-end reconciliation of pledges and cash gifts; provide information as appropriate for annual Form 990
Ensures that the department's data system and reports, record preservation methods and other relevant policies and activities are compliant with the Enterprise's internal auditors, as well as with all federal and state regulatory requirements for nonprofit organizations
Regularly interfaces with Office of the CEO, division Presidents and other senior leadership to retrieve review and approvals of key documents and secure signatures in a timely fashion
Minimum of five years comprehensive experience in the development office of a nonprofit organization, effectively administering a donor management system and other "back-office" operations to support fundraising goals and activities
Understanding of the fundraising process and life cycle
Demonstrated understanding of and expertise assessing and implementing nonprofit operations policies and procedures and compliance regulations
Demonstrated understanding of and ability to perform essential functions within a donor data base system
Ability to deliver effective written and analytical work products including (but not limited to) acknowledgement letters, financial reports and operational/training manuals and materials
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member and capacity to manage and prioritize complex, detailed tasks and deliver effectively under the frequent pressure of tight deadlines
Effective communication skills and ability to build relationships across a variety of positions and functions, including professional liaising with funders and constituents
Expertise in donor database systems (Salesforce experience strongly preferred), Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), Adobe (editing PDFs)
