Job Summary

The Estée Lauder Companies Online platform powers our Online Commerce, Innovation and Omnichannel initiatives for a portfolio of over 400 sites. We are looking for an engineering leader who will lead passionate teams of engineers responsible for our branded e-commerce websites. Our e-commerce platform is undergoing modernization and this leader will help navigate the technical and organizational challenges of a re-platform with minimal disruptions to the business. This person will also partner closely with product and other engineering teams and own many branded websites to ensure the digital experience is reliable, frictionless, and user-friendly.

This leader will be familiar working in a highly dynamic environment and capable of inspiring a team of developers by establishing absolute best practice across all technologies, using wider industry knowledge of emerging and proven technologies which can help the business meet its strategic goals.

The role is a senior position and will have multiple capability teams report into them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full-stack teams passionate about improving our customer’s digital experience

  • Develop people and teams through coaching, mentoring, and management support to build high performing teams

  • Contribute to the planning, prioritization, and alignment of projects in collaboration with Product leadership

  • Foster technical decision making on the team with tech leads with proper context, making final decisions when necessary

  • Attract, recruit, and retain the best people across the globe

  • Become a subject matter expert in all things related to their domain

  • Strengthen engineering management as a discipline and be a champion for our engineering cultural values across all of engineering

  • Lead across a variety of tech stacks to meet immediate business needs on the legacy platform (jQuery/PHP/Perl) while also driving technology modernization (to React/NextJS/API-driven backend)



  • 8 years technical experience and management experience, incorporating at least 5 years managing technical teams of > 10 people in distributed environments

  • Proven experience growing teams and designing organizations to maximize impact

  • Proven experience building modern web applications with a focus on highly branded and beautiful user experiences

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in modern best practices for website performance, CSS architecture, accessibility, & SEO

  • Experience with a variety of front-end frameworks & the industry's evolution

  • Experience in working with cross-functional agile teams building great consumer experiences, ideally in e-commerce
