Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP Senior Marketing Manager - Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation (EBEC) in New York, New York
Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with more than 4,000 lawyers and staff in 31 offices, is seeking a Senior Marketing Manager to support the firm's employee benefits and executive compensation (EBEC) practice. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing , the Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the marketing and business development activities of the firm's EBEC practice and enhancing the profile of the practice group and firm in the business community by actively participating in the development and implementation of strategic marketing efforts. This position interfaces with all levels of the firm, practice group, office, and professional teams, as well as clients.
Although currently remote, upon reopening of the office, this position will reside in any one of our Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, or Washington, DC offices with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.
Key responsibilities include:
Leads the development and implementation of marketing strategies for the EBEC practice, in collaboration with practice group leaders.
Manages projects specifically related to achieving marketing plan objectives.
Leads the response to RFPs and client pitches in coordination with practice group lawyers and other business professionals across the firm, including drafting original content.
Conceptualizes, develops, and manages client-facing marketing events.
Manages the practice group's participation in external seminars, sponsorships, speaking opportunities, professional/industry organizations, and networking events.
Researches and analyzes information to identify marketing opportunities as well as speaking and authorship opportunities.
Coordinates with the firm's PR and communications team to develop and implement plans that promote the practice group.
Leads the response to RFPs and client pitches by providing strategic analysis, market research/competitive intelligence, drafting original content, coordinating input from practice group lawyers and other firm departments, setting and managing timelines, providing quality control review, and managing final submission.
Prepares selected pitches/proposals including compiling materials and rehearsing presentations.
Researches sources and acquires competitive intelligence to support RFP and pitch opportunities.
Develops, disseminates, and updates various marketing materials, ensuring materials are up-to-date and readily available, including practice descriptions and brochures, experience lists, and lawyer biographies.
Provides strategic direction on the development of client-facing communications, including client alerts, white papers, and blogs.
Develops internal and external communications materials and presentations.
Oversees creation and maintenance of databases for mailing lists and contact lists in coordination with the firm's database team.
Manages website content and ensures accuracy.
Collaborates with practice group lawyers to support practice group, office, and firm marketing and public relations initiatives.
Establishes and adheres to practice group/department budget; seeks opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenses by streamlining operations.
Participates in practice group, marketing department, and firm meetings.
Leads, supervises, and manages EBEC marketing team members, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm's policies and applicable laws.
Supervisory responsibilities include recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training and development, evaluation and compensation, staff utilization and planning, assigning and directing work, performance management, employee recognition, counseling, addressing complaints and resolving problems, and administration of personnel policies.
Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant 10 years of professional marketing experience, with at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Law firm or other professional services experience is preferred.
Experience in the employee benefits/executive compensation field is highly desired.
Effective written and oral communications skills.
Ability to write business correspondence, proposals/pitches, and reports.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and professional publications.
Time management and organizational skills to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and exercise independent, sound judgment.
