Job Profile:

This position will report directly into the SVP of Merchandising and lead the development and implementation of the Eileen Fisher Merchandise Planning process. Develop annual, seasonal and monthly merchandise plans that support all channels and tie to the company financials. The Senior Merchandise Planner collaborate with Merchandising team to provide guidance for the global brand line architecture to build global assortment plans that align to the creative vision and support of financial targets. Provide strategic guidance of in-season development to Merchandising team in order to maximize productivity and IMU, identify sales trends and opportunities. The Sr. Merchandise Planner will create effective partnerships with MFP, Channel Planning, Buying and Sales leads to develop strategies and drive business.

Required Skills

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Tool & Process development – design process and build supporting tools for the development and implementation of a robust merchandising planning function. Ongoing process improvements and evolution.

  • Collaborate with classification merchandisers and Director of Merchandising, building merch planning skill within the department, educating and influencing line planning, line development and provide reporting for milestone prep and delivery.

  • Line Development & Assortment Planning– focus on influencing line plan development to meet or exceed target IMU and financial goals. Develop plans in support of merchandising strategies and design direction, develop style/color level assortment plan by delivery to meet customer needs and EF financial goals.

  • Partner with MFP team on CAP, MAP and early commitments.

  • Product performance analysis – ongoing analysis and hindsighting sell in v. sell out to inform line building, business opportunities and product strategies.

  • Provide unbiased, objective analysis to indicate opportunities and create solutions to close gap in brand plan and financial budget

  • Develop global brand product reviews to include selling performance metrics: sales trend vs. plan, AUR, IMU, class drivers, best/worst sellers

  • 10+ years Merchandise Planning experience in Apparel

  • Systems and Tools Acumen:

  • Advanced Excel to include pivot tables, macros, Microsoft Office 365

  • Ability to work within systems as well as create working tools within Excel

  • 7th online working experience and knowledge a plus

  • Financial and Business Acumen:

  • Strong command of retail math concepts

  • Adept at aggregating data and interpreting into actionable and informative analysis at executive level

  • Candidate management attributes:

  • Fosters highly collaborative relationships with business partners

  • Influencer, can present ideas to business partners

  • Strategic innovative thinker with the ability to balance with tactical application and efficiencies

  • Comfortable with a certain level of ambiguity

  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills

  • Demonstrates effective listening, written and oral communication skills

Required Experience:

  • Global brand merchandise planning experience with a company that has both wholesale and retail experience preferred.


4 year College degree preferred.
