Amazon Senior Producer, Ongoing Series, Wondery in New York, New York

Description

Wondery is looking for a Senior Producer to help launch, grow, and manage its slate of Ongoing shows, such as Scamfluencers, American Scandal, Even the Rich, and Diss and Tell. We are looking for a collaborative, trustworthy leader who is passionate about character-driven audio storytelling and understands how to convey complex information in an entertaining, dramatic, accurate, and emotionally engaging way. You will play a critical role in launching new shows, growing our existing shows and leading creative production across your slate, and working with cross-functional teams to deliver on department and organization-wide goals and drive use of best practices.

This is a great role for someone who is equal parts left brain and right brain. You should have outstanding writing and editing skills; be organized, engaged, and curious about the world; and have deep experience with story structure and storytelling. The ideal candidate will be skilled at managing and motivating a team, thinking strategically to solve creative and operational challenges, and have experience ideating and launching new shows. Experience with audio/podcast production is a plus, but deep experience in other types of media will be considered.

This role can be based in Culver City, CA or Manhattan, NY.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead creative production and overall vision for a slate of 3-6 shows, working across internal and external teams

  • Identify, hire and manage relationships with external talent, including hosts, writers, story editors, producers, sound designers and voice actors

  • Work with department leads to launch and shape the overall creative direction of new shows

  • Work with writers and story editors to establish framing, structure, and tone for season arcs

  • Edit and provide detailed feedback on outlines, scripts, and sonically immersive mixes (cutting tape is not required)

  • Help ensure a diverse pipeline of talent that reflects the stories we want to tell

  • Work with other departments to deliver on organizational goals, such as marketing, sales, and franchise

  • Manage and mentor 1-3 direct reports as we grow and scale

  • Serve as a leader across the department and larger organization

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years writing/producing longform audio, longform magazine, or longform television/film formats

  • Experience with both fact-based and creative narrative storytelling

  • Bachelors degree in film/screenwriting, playwriting, journalism or related field, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years writing/producing longform audio, longform magazine, or longform television/film formats

  • 1+ years launching new shows

  • Understanding of three-act structure and character POV

  • A creative approach to storytelling with sound

  • Ability to produce creative work under deadline

  • Experience working collaboratively with creative and editorial talent

  • Enthusiasm for podcasting and Wondery’s approach to storytelling

  • Master’s degree in screenwriting, playwriting, journalism, or related field

  • Preference for candidates with management experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
