Aon is looking for a Senior Vice President, Litigation Risk Underwriting

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions supporting litigation Risk. This role can be based from Aon's New York City, Chicago, or Bermuda office.

Your impact as a Senior Vice President, Litigation Risk Underwriting

As part of Aon's global litigation risk transfer and financing strategy, Aon has launched a Managing General Agent (MGA) to focus on writing litigation insurance cover. This role will work closely with Aon's Litigation Risk Group and with the MGA's insurance markets to structure and place litigation risk cover. This person will lead the design, structuring and underwriting of complex insurance programmes and innovative and effective solutions in high quality cases using insurance capital, whether that be to ringfence contingent litigation risks in M&A, preserve the value of successful judgments, protect against the adverse outcome of litigation or other scenarios
This would be an interesting role for a litigation funder or investment banker wanting to make a move to the business side. The likely background will be a (former) litigation funder or senior investment banking/structured finance professional.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead the underwriting processes in support of the MGA
Partner with Litigation Risk Group to identify bespoke litigation risk-transfer solutions to benefit clients
Design, structure, and underwrite complex insurance programmes
Work with non-traditional capital providers to provide combined risk transfer and financing solutions
Identify, develop and cultivate new sources of insurance (and other) capital for solutions that will differentiate Aon in the marketplace

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

A seasoned litigation funder or investment banker with deep financial acumen and proven track record of developing business
Good reputation and strong experience in complex international general commercial litigation across many different practice areas
Exposure to Tax and Intellectual Property and Patent law would be ideal, but not required
Credibility and gravitas with senior leaders with decision makers at insurers
An ability to understand the underlying risk and articulate it to insurers via detailed and compelling written submissions
Can build high trust relationships with colleagues and brokers
Ability to assess a case on its merits and the realistic prospects of it being insurable without having to approach the insurance markets
Ability to structure deals utilizing insurance and financial capital
Engage with brokers, in both the value aspects and commercial
Strong market negotiation skills
