Amazon Corporate LLC Senior Womenswear Designer in New York, New York

Amazon Fashion is seeking a hands-on product obsessed, strategic, and innovative design leader to shape, develop, and implement the creative direction for The Drop and our fashion forward brands. The Sr. Product Designer will lead the product design vision and strategy in partnership with internal Amazon Fashion teams and external partners to support exponential growth and innovation on behalf of customers.

As a Senior Womenswear Designer, you bring the ability to blend high aesthetic with customer-centric design. You will create and orchestrate original design concepts across multiple apparel and accessory categories, reflecting individual brand design philosophies, while appropriately meeting merchandising needs. You are responsible for brand continuity, capturing market trends across all product categories, and ensuring alignment to Business Management brief. You have an industry proven track record, and are comfortable executing the development process from end-to-end, all while managing cost/value requirements. You are a problem solver, with exceptional communication skills, and drive efficiency influencing the total design organization.

A day in the life

Work independently and with Brand Managers to define seasonal trends.
Provide Creative and Strategic direction given to design teams to begin design process.
Submit approvals and lab dip approvals.
Edit sketches and make corrections.
Attend fittings and provide direction.
Review samples and email vendors with comments.
Meet with internal stakeholders to review business needs and present seasonal designs.
Select color and fabrics for each collection.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities:
\* Own the brand's product vision and strategy, and communicate a compelling point of view to influence decision making.
\* Lead the development for apparel and accessory products by combining of the moment knowledge of fashion trends, runway inspiration, and competitive landscape to surprise and delight customers.
\* Set the creative seasonal merchandising direction and assortment planning for the brands with a vision and clear design methodology grounded in customer research.
\* Straddle strategic and creative worlds by collaborating with cross functional partners and leaders to deliver the best products at the best price that are unique to Amazon's customers across brands and categories.
\* Establish a raw materials library and work with merchandising and production partners to develop styles to test and react.
\* Direct and curate visual tools, presentations and processes for color and print, inclusive of physical & digital resources seasonally that incorporates trends and insights.
\* Lead key product development milestone events to ideate, develop and curate product vision.
\* Work closely with product development to ensure great fitting quality product reflective of the design intent.
\* Provide leadership, management and development of team through product category expertise.
\* Adherence to the Seasonal Calendars.

Basic Qualifications
\* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
\* 10+ years of experience in fashion design, apparel product development and/or merchandising.
\* Passion for fashion industry and cultural trends and a high taste level.
\* Experience working in a high growth business with experience across apparel and accessories, including color and design.
\* Proven track record of taking ownership and driving business performance in the fashion industry through hands-on technical expertise.

Preferred Qualifications
\* Proficient in design tools including Adobe Illustrator.
\* Effective people manager with a passion for hiring and developing the best.
\* Technical knowledge of manufacturing, global supply chain and regulatory requirements.
\* Demonstrated ability to launch and scale new businesses in an entrepreneurial environment
\* Strong analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions on large amounts of data
\* Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Adobe software, and PLM
\* Ecommerce retail experience
