Amazon Web Services Software Development Manager in New York, New York

We are seeking a Software Development Manager to stand up a brand new service in this space. In this role, you will set up a high caliber technology team with seasoned engineering managers and technologists, work closely with science team to advance the state of the art and partner with the product team to shape up a product that fundamentally changes how customers build solutions on AWS.

Strong technical foundations, experience in building machine learning solutions, focus on customer obsession, business acumen and remarkable product vision are necessary to succeed in this role.   • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams

  • Experience partnering with product OR program management teams

  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers

  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience

  • 4+ years managing software engineering teams

  • Understanding of software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, build processes, testing, and operations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with tech and non-tech customers

  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role


  • Experience building tier-1 machine learning services

  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

  • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
