This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for Sr. Consultant, Sustainability, Energy and Climate Change (Water Stewardship) for our Boston, MA office. The following locations will also be considered: San Diego or San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Portland, OR; or Arlington, VA. Be involved in projects with our Climate Resiliency and Sustainability Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

The successful candidate will support a client–facing team in the design, implementation, and management of organizational sustainability programs. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and capacity to work on a wide variety of projects and the demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional teams. Candidates should be passionate about sustainability, self-motivated and self-directed, collaborative, and able to produce high-quality work products. Specific experience in water stewardship is required.

Your Impact

  • Developing and managing sustainability and water stewardship programs, in addition to related strategies and policies.

  • Assessing sustainability- and water-related risk and resilience, leveraging tools such as the WRI Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas and the WWF Water Risk Filter.

  • Developing company and product life cycle inventories for energy, GHG, water, waste, and other resources.

  • Designing sustainability and water performance targets and accompanying strategies and achievement plans, including enterprise water targets and water replenishment targets.

  • Identifying and evaluating opportunities for reductions (e.g., water efficiency, water reuse/recycling, water replenishment).

  • Producing sustainability disclosures and other communications aligned with leading frameworks (e.g., CDP, GRI, SASB, TCFD).

  • Researching leading sustainability programs and initiatives.

  • Managing multiple projects and project teams concurrently.

  • Supporting business development activities with existing and prospective clients across sectors.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Water, Sustainability, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, or related discipline.

  • 5 - 7 years of related professional experience including experience in sustainability, energy, and/or management consulting.

  • Detailed knowledge of corporate water management and stewardship.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate results via Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and related software, and craft compelling presentations and reports.

  • Ability to develop and present analyses using programs including Microsoft Excel, Access, and Power BI.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects/project teams concurrently, and manage time efficiently.

  • Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and platforms.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.

  • Experience implementing the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) standard and leveraging sustainability frameworks, including CDP, DJSI, GRI, the GHG Protocol, SASB, and TCFD.
