PVH Corp. Sr. Designer, Mens - Temporary -Tommy Hilfiger in New York, New York

The Senior Designer, Men’s Woven Shirts and Bottoms will produce creative ideas for the design team that follow the season’s direction or inspire a new direction thru shopping the market, magazine research, and knowing past season successes and failures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete all aspects of design packages for each new garment, and manage post hand-off issues from Merchandising, Production, and overseas factories

  • Identify seasonal fashion direction, merchandise trends and consumer needs - Research competitive market

  • Brings vision and creative options to the table and works with direction from design manager to execution

  • Create seasonal presentation boards, highlighting fabric, color, and pattern direction

  • Present and communicate seasonal designs to all Cross Functional partners

  • Utilize selling info, as well as trend and marketing reports, to best support design ideas

  • Oversee /create all 3D and Visulon assets for each season

  • Prepare initial tech pack with detail sketches

  • Input and maintain technical packages and sketches in PLM data base

  • Organize and maintain design development including artwork, trims, fabric worksheets, initial development, finalized tech pack, line list, etc.

  • Research and develop innovative trims each season

  • Work with trim department to develop, review and approve all trims

  • Manage and update all design information in tech packs, Visulon, as well as communicate changes/updates to PD/factories

  • Submit and approve artwork/strike-offs, wash panels, etc.

  • Attend physical and 3D garment fittings and assist technical designers

  • Manage and adhere to Time and Action Calendar

  • Communicate & update supervisors w/ all milestone completion.

  • If applicable, effectively manage a direct report, provide thorough guidance and direction, as well as properly developing this person skills for future growth opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • 5+ years experience with men's wear with 1-2 years experience in a senior design role (or compatible position)

  • BA in Fashion Design

  • Strong experience with woven fabric and garment construction, a must

  • Strong experience and knowledge of Bottoms wash development and execution

  • Strong sense of color, print, and pattern as applied to woven bases

  • Strong understanding of fit and pant and short garment construction

  • Experience in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop CS, MS Excel, and MS Office Suite

  • PLM, 3D design experience & Vision are a plus

  • Experience working with overseas factories, agents, and fabric and trim vendors

  • Advanced fabrication and technique application knowledge

  • Vertical experience a plus

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

  • Ability to work cross-functionally, building strong relationships between various departments

  • Strong eye for trends and current knowledge on industry news/developments

  • Ability to work longer hours, if needed, due to timelines and deliverables

  • Ability to travel, if needed, both domestically and internationally

  • Able to time manage responsibilities and be able to address tasks without direction, as needed

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines

  • Detail-oriented and resourceful traits necessary

  • Must be able to find best solutions and developing methods to improve efficiency

  • Must be flexible to adapt to changing trends of business and projects

  • Ability to work in fluid environment with changing priorities required
