Elevator Pitch

The VMWare Government Services (VGS) Cloud Security Engineering (CSE) team builds automation for vulnerability management and provides cybersecurity SME consulting services to internal customers. The team is seeking a hands-on senior level software architect with a good knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance, and strong leadership skills. You will be part of a team that analyzes and designs solutions that support our FedRAMP authorized environment. Additionally, you will consult with teams to identify and remediate security gaps. Your contributions will make a difference to our bottom line because you will improve our business by creating tools for key processes.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • In the first 30 days you will get to know the team and our solution stack in AWS.

  • Within the first 90 days you will start to provide input on features to automate our continuous monitoring activities.

  • Over the course of the first year, you will become a key stakeholder and owner driving and implementing enhancements to the Continuous Security Monitoring Service. You will also be working with other teams to identify security gaps and recommend solutions.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

This position will perform work that the U.S. government has specified can only be performed by a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil, and therefore any potential offer of employment will be contingent upon verification of U.S. citizenship.

  • You'll bring your experience as part of an engineering team which has taken a SaaS solution through the FedRAMP process and contribute to the design and implementation of the internal solution to automate our continuous monitoring tasks in our AWS GovCloud infrastructure for our FedRAMP compliance.

  • You'll apply your hands-on knowledge and experience correlating from commonly used security tools (such as Nessus, etc.), Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence), and AWS GovCloud Cloud Infrastructure.

  • You'll work with teams in Europe and across the US. This job may require the candidate to travel and/or work from a facility that requires full vaccination prior to entry.

  • You'll use your knowledge of cloud security to analyze solutions and identify security gaps and recommend solutions in complex enterprise applications.

The hiring manager for this role is Sanjiev Chattopadhya, Senior Manager of Cloud Security Engineering (CSE) team. Sanjiev’s believes in giving his staff the autonomy to solve difficult problems. He is a seasoned people manager and has more than 20 years of experience in building cybersecurity solutions for Fortune 100 companies and the US Government. He has extensive leadership experience in building secure SaaS solutions. Prior to joining VMWare, he worked at IBM, Blackboard and FedRAMP.
