Launch Math & Science Centers STEM Summer Camp Site Manager (Day Camp, K-7th Grade) in New York, New York

Launch Math + Science Centers provide toddlers to tweens with inspiring math instruction and STEM-based camps and classes. The Camp Site Manager reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a STEM camp site. Through a hands-on approach and an understanding of Launch programs, the Camp Site Manager will work to ensure that instructors are prepared and supported, and that Launch Camps are safe, fun, and enriching.

The Launch summer program consists of week long camps covering various STEM themes ranging from computer programming to engineering and chemistry. Camps are divided into three age groups: K-1st, 2nd to 4th grades, and 5th to 7th grades. Many of Launch's camps also have an outdoor component, generally in Central Park, where kids participate in filming, and math and science based activities.


  • Supervise teams of instructors at one site

  • Support, motivate, coach, and assess the performance of instructors

  • Monitor staff conduct and participation

  • Conduct staff meetings at least twice a week (Monday and Friday afternoons)

  • Manage day-to-day operations (materials, daily schedule, facility, staffing, etc.)

  • Perform all necessary day-to-day administrative duties including, but not limited to taking attendance, signing-in/out campers with approved guardians, filing any necessary incident reports

  • Ensure the safe execution of all camp activities

  • Provide frequent status updates for the Operations Manager and other senior management in the form of reports and verbal communications

  • Act as main point of contact for all parents/guardians; address questions, concerns, and requests

  • Perform periodic quality assurance reviews to ensure programs are running with efficiency and effectiveness

  • Assist in leading new hire orientation for summer staff members (instructors)

  • Be prepared to serve as an instructor for entry-level STEM camps as needed


  • Clear and effective communicator

  • Ability to employ sound problem-solving techniques

  • Exhibit team player skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with children

  • Minimum 1 year of experience supervising staff

  • Ability to lead engaging, dynamic activities for campers

  • Inclusive, professional, and upbeat attitude

  • Comfortable with technology

  • Schedule availability that allows participation in camp training the week of June 8th, 2020

  • Camp experience preferred

  • CPR certification and First Aid training must be completed prior to the start of camp training

  • Bachelor's Degree required
