What you’ll do
As the Strategic Sourcing Manager, Packaging you will play a key role in KIND’s procurement organization. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional partners (R&D, operations, finance, wellness & sustainability, and manufacturing sites) for defined packaging category or sub-categories, develop long-term category strategies, build supply base options, ensure continuity of supply and drive value beyond price initiatives to ensure competitive cost base and deliver functional and business objectives. You will need to roll up your sleeves and be intimately involved in all aspects of packaging procurement for your categories. And this is how you’ll do it…
Develop and execute category and sourcing strategies for flexible packaging, folding cartons, corrugated, and any other packaging category KIND utilizes to unlock value, mitigate risk and create competitive advantage for KIND.
Become the procurement category expert for packaging categories in scope and underlying commodities through industry and supply market research, as well as external benchmarking and cost model development. Act as a market intelligence provider regarding categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed.
Act as a key point of contact for the category or sub-categories for both internal and external stakeholders.
Lead supplier performance management through the negotiations of procured materials and services to assure optimal TCO (Cost, Quality, Supply, Delivery, Innovation) achieved. Create transparent/ dynamic pricing models with suppliers to manage costs.
Drive appropriate relationships with category suppliers through a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program with key packaging suppliers with formal KPIs (key performance indicators) to create value, enable continuous improvement, mitigate risk, and support New Product Development, Innovation and Sustainability.
Will oversee the operational activities that are inherent to the packaging category.
Negotiate and implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions.
Identify, achieve and report on savings and value targets for category sourcing activities.
Drive and ensure compliance related to procurement and contract management.
What you’ll bring to KIND
Experience working in and understanding of leading procurement category management process at a Fortune 1000 company, including category strategy, strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management.
A track record of identifying and delivering savings which meet or exceed company goals.
Experience from multiple packaging categories, particularly within the plastics and/or paper categories and related underlying commodities.
An understanding of the underlying commodities within packaging (particularly plastics and/or paper categories) and can track their movement and impact to packaging pricing. You can communicate related opportunity and risk.
Strong collaboration skills and can work cross-functionally to create opportunities, improve process and deliver projects.
Experience managing suppliers in a Supplier Performance or Relationship Management program (SPM/SRM) which has improved supplier’s performance and impact.
Developed or refreshed a procurement Category Strategy and gained stakeholder alignment to your recommendation.
Proactive and energetic, always looking for ways to improve or take things to the next level.

Genuine in your desire to help make the world a kinder place, committing to always spreading and celebrating kindness
Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Food Science, or Engineering preferred; MBA or MS a plus
5-7 years relevant working experience, with at least 4 years in a Fortune 1000 strategic procurement organization or equivalent
3+ years of strategic packaging procurement experience
CPG industry experience required. Food and beverage industry experience is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multi-functional teams, especially with R&D, Technical, Material Planning, Project Management, and manufacturing sites.
Experience in Procurement Category Management over at least two contract cycles (RFP, managing contract, supplier relationship management (SRM), etc.)
Understanding of industry and supply market for CPG packaging, including flexible packaging, folding cartons, and corrugated, in NAFTA region desirable
Highly analytical and proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel. Proficiency in PowerPoint.
Strong strategic sourcing and contract management skills at regional level
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
