WSP is currently initiating a search for an Intern Structural Engineer for our New York City office. This opportunity is available for a college student in good standing working towards a degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in structural engineering within an ABET accredited program.This would be for approximately 3 months over the summer break. The candidate will gain experience in the implementation of transportation projects located in the New York area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist Senior Structural Engineers in broader engineering activities
Perform routine Structural Engineer functions, such as developing construction documents and calculations
Prepare sketches and drawings using various types of CADD or BIM design software
Assistwith field work and document field investigation
Research building code and standards
Perform other duties as assigned

Must be motivated and have a strong desire to learn structural engineering skills related to transportation infrastructure projects.
Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT and MicroStation and knowledge of reading drawings.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Education and Skills Required:
Current standing as ajunior or senior studentactively enrolled in an ABET-accredited Undergraduate or Graduate Program.
Must have completed basic foundational courses including: Structural Analysis, Structural Steel Design and/or Reinforced Concrete Design. Must have completed coursework in computed aided design and/or building information modelling.
