WSP is currently initiating a search for a Summer 2022 Bridge Inspection Intern for our Valhalla, NY office. The following locations will also be considered: New York, NY and Goshen, NY . Be involved in projects with our Transportation and Infrastructure Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Contribute to NYSDOT Biennial Bridge Inspection.
Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
Learn basic principles of Civil Engineering and become familiar NBIS inspection methods.
Assist an inspection team in the field inspection of bridge structures.
Write technical reports and document inspection findings.
Take and record detailed field measurements.
Coordinate equipment and inspection schedules of various teams.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
Who You Are
Current standing as a Rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student actively enrolled in an accredited Civil or Structural Engineering Undergraduate or Graduate program.
Prior related internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Current standing as a Rising Senior or Graduate student actively enrolled in an accredited Civil or Structural Engineering Undergraduate or Graduate program.
Experience using AutoCAD and/or Microstation software.
Structural or bridge course background.
Prior field work experience.
Local candidates preferred. Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
