Sesame Workshop Summer 2022 - US Social Impact Intern in New York, New York

Sesame Workshop is looking to hire a US Social Impact Intern for Summer 2022. The U.S. Social Impact Intern will provide project support for several new and existing initiatives within the department. The U.S. Social Impact Department uses the Sesame Street characters to create free, engaging, and effective content for children and the adults in their lives. You can look at our resources at www.sesamestreetincommunities.org and www.ss4mf.org. This position involves a student who is interested in children’s media, project management, and content creation. This person must have extensive time management and organizational skills. They should show leadership potential, drive to learn more, and be an enthusiastic team player who demonstrates initiative to take on new projects and solve problems. Schedule: Minimum 2-3 days/week, up to 4 days a week working in a hybrid work environment. We Offer: • Exposure to content creation within children’s media • around the different topics we explore. • Understanding of the implementation process for national-level projects. • Experience in a hybrid corporate environment. • The USSI Team is welcoming, collaborative, and a great learning experience for any student interested in project management, community outreach, or communications General Activities: • Support daily work of content and PM team by helping with administrative needs, development of content, and production of a wide variety of materials. • Use attention to detail and excellent time management skills (requires an ability to prioritize, juggle simultaneous projects, and meet frequent deadlines). • Organize, copy-edit, and proofread manuscripts and materials through all phases of the publishing and production process. • Contribute creative sparkle and polish to ideas and activities to make them substantive for parents and providers/professionals to use when caring for kids. • Research potential new topic areas and needs of children and families. Social Media: • Assist with the development and maintenance of social media campaigns for Sesame Street in Communities across five social channels, including paid ads and boosted posts. • Assist with the creation and maintenance of an editorial calendar for social media posts relating to the promotions, ad buys, and themes for the month • Assist with the creation of partner toolkits and coordinate with partners to cross-promote social media campaigns related to their partnership with SSIC. Requirements: • Must be pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university, enrollment in a graduate program a plus. • Candidates pursuing a degree in Education, Social Work, and English are highly encouraged to apply. • Extremely self-motivated and flexible. • Strong writing and verbal communication skills. • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through with long- term assignments. • Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram), Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PPT. Department Overview: Sesame Workshop’s U.S. Social Impact department, in the division of Social Impact and Philanthropy, develops and implements philanthropically funded community engagement initiatives that service our nation’s vulnerable children and families. Based on fulfilling Sesame Workshop’s mission we created innovative, bilingual (English and Spanish), multiple media initiatives and resources that enrich children’s overall development through early learning basics, health and well-being and building resiliency skills to tackle challenging situations. There is a strong focus on localizing the implementation of these initiatives through key national and community organizational partnerships through individualized action plans and professional development. The initiatives are based on expert advisor recommendations along with on-the-ground research followed by measuring their impact on service providers, families and their children through independent summative studies.
