About the Role: You will report to the Director of Experience Design, WSJ, and will work with a cross-disciplinary team in UX and technology. As a member of the Experience Design team, you will be a voice and advocate for users of our website and apps, understanding their goals, desires, and preferences. You will collaborate with UX designers, accessibility engineers, and UX architects/researchers to craft beautiful, intuitive, and cohesive user experiences. Ultimately, you will help shape the future of how we deliver information and services to our customers. This role is hybrid, based in our New York City office. You Will:
- Help the Experience Design team define new user experiences across The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, MarketWatch and other various news and research products.
- Learn from a multidisciplinary team including Product, UX Research, Editorial, and Engineering.
- Focus on and take ownership of a project or initiative that spans the duration of the internship.
- Implement design direction aligned with Dow Jones' experience design principles.
- Communicate across a multidisciplinary team throughout each phase of a project.
- Help develop innovative approaches to complex experience design challenges.
- Stay informed on trends, tools, and technologies in experience design, and proactively pursue knowledge for professional development.
- Completed at least two years towards a Bachelor's degree in User Experience (UX) Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Digital Media or Multimedia Design, Computer Science or Information Technology, or Psychology
- Familiarity with digital product design best practices, usability, accessibility, and user-centered design procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic workplace.
- A passion for identifying and solving problems.
- Curiosity and an engaged mindset.
- Interest in experience design, information hierarchy, user flow, and typography principles.
