Job Description

Dwight Summer Day Camp is looking to hire fun, dynamic individuals for the summer of 2024; mid-June through mid-August.

Seeking applicants who love kids and want the experience of working at camp and gaining skills. You will learn skills transferable to any industry including: management, perseverance, teamwork, patience, working under pressure, time management and more.

Position Summary

Lifeguard

Lifeguards are mentors and role models for all Dwight campers. Our Aquatics team is responsible for bringing aquatic fun and energy to camp each and every day, while also taking the time to ensure the safety of all campers: managing their behavior, building a platform of trust with each camp group so they maintain a safe environment in the pool.

Qualifications

Required

  • Must be 17+ years of age and possess a current (within one year) Lifeguarding/First-Aid/CPR/AED Certification

  • Must be able to commit to work until August 11th

  • Demonstrated interest in working with children

    Desired

  • Experience in a summer camp or after school setting/working with children

    General Responsibilities

    Activity Management

    Lifeguards will work hands with campers over the course of the summer, providing them with the tools and structure they need to be successful in a day camp environment. Being part of the aquatics team at camp means you will be serving as a leader and role model for campers throughout the day. Working closely with the camp aquatics director,  the aquatics staff is responsible for creating a fun, productive, and inclusive environment for children of all types and abilities.

    Participate in Training

    Prior to the start of the summer, all staff must participate in the Aquatics training program for camp, as well as periodic in-camp training throughout the summer.

    Compensation:

  • Range of $18-$45 hourly

  • $250 bonus upon successful completion of camp
