SiriusXM’s Aviation & Marine team is seeking an individual who is motivated, resourceful, organized, and experienced with social media technology to serve as an intern. The candidate will have a strong interest in social media, communications, and marketing. The Aviation & Marine Social Media Intern will be responsible for planning social media calendars, creating social media posts, social media monitoring and listening, running analytics reports, and assisting with and contributing to content generation for social media campaigns. To be successful, the Social Media Intern must have in-depth understanding of key social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. Applicants should demonstrate strong writing ability, organizational skills, and the ability to work as both part of a team and independently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify new campaign ideas and content including but not limited to customer testimonials that will increase engagement with our various target audiences in collaboration with the Aviation & Marine marketing team.
Schedule and post social content on Facebook and Instagram through a content management tool and assist with posting on YouTube.
Responsible for assisting in the development of content calendars on a regular basis for both SiriusXM Aviation & Marine brands.
Collect and analyze analytics to gauge the success of campaigns, distill key findings, make recommendations, and adjust the social media plan accordingly.
Keep up-to-date on current social media best practices and recommend fresh, new ideas.
Monitor and reply to comments and private inbox messages from customers (with supervision from the Director responsible for Social Media).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Degree in Marketing or Communications is a plus.
Internships are open to current students enrolled at a university and recent graduates who graduated within the 12-month period prior to the start of the internship.
Requirements and General Skills:
Proven experience posting engaging social media content is required -- especially Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Able to learn quickly in order to understand the key drivers for the SiriusXM Aviation & Marine brands.
Proactive, takes initiative, then follows through on ideas.
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize a large volume of work -- while flexibly handling potentially shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Careful spelling, grammar, proofreading, and editing skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills -- able to work effectively and develop relationships with key contacts across functions internally and at partner organizations as needed.
Listens well -- not only in meetings, but also open to coaching for professional development.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
Strong desire to see the team succeed -- putting team achievement ahead of individual success.
Flexible -- willing to perform other duties as necessary for the team to succeed.
Aviation and/or Marine industry experience is a plus.
Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube.
Preferred: Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Google Docs.
Video skills are a plus.
