Police Athletic League Summer Lifeguard in New York, New York

The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City that provides educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. PAL Inc. and The New York City Police Department work in partnership to provide communities with summer and after-school recreational and educational activities.

We are looking for a part-time Lifeguard to work on the PAL Summer Camps. The Aquatics team will accompany camps on their aquatics field trips. The Aquatics team will work with PAL camps throughout the City when they are going on trips. The hours will vary depending on the length of the trip, but on average, there are 25-35 hours per week.

This position is available in all five boroughs.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist aquatics field trips for PAL summer camps

  • Assist PAL camp staff with the supervision of campers on trips

  • Oversee aquatics field trips for PAL summer camps

  • Closely monitor activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout the shift

  • Directing campers out of water in dangerous conditions

  • Closely monitoring weather reports to make sure campers remain safe

  • Work with Program Manager to ensure all trips are compliant with DOH policies

  • Provide weekly reports to Program Manager

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Must have lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR certification requirements.

  • Minimum H.S. diploma/GED.

  • Previous lifeguarding experience (preferred)

  • Must be flexible in daily hours.

  • Will have to travel to different locations throughout NYC.

  • Must be a team player.
