Police Athletic League SYEP Intake Coordinator in New York, New York

The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City that provides educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. PAL Inc. and The New York City Police Department work in partnership to provide communities with summer and after-school recreational and educational activities.

We are looking for a part-time SYEP Intake Coordinator who will be responsible for collecting, reviewing and assisting participants with the completion of the SYEP application remotely. Intake Coordinators will be responsible for the pre-monitoring of all prospective worksites and completing all necessary pre-monitoring reports. He/She will act as a liaison between PAL’s Youth Employment Department and the worksites Supervisor. The Intake Coordinators will assist in the enrollment process remotely. Intake Coordinators will assist with completing SYEP documents, maintaining participants folders, contact participants enrollments.

These positions are available for the period of March through June. (Up to 30 hours per week)

Position available in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the pre-monitoring of all prospective worksites and completing all necessary pre-monitoring reports.

  • He/She must act as a liaison between PAL, its worksites, and the applicants.

  • Assist in the enrollment process, keep accurate data, maintain folders, and contact participants via phone in reference to documents, job selection, and enrollments.

  • Some workshop facilitation experience is preferred as the Intake Coordinator will conduct workshops for groups of participants.

  • The Intake Coordinator position can transition into a data entry clerk during the enrollment process of the program.

    Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Some college coursework at an accredited college or university.

  • Must have internet access to work remotely

  • Must be willing to travel

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Experience working in an office environment, with prior data entry experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows, MS Word, and MS Excel.

  • Ability to work independently and in a group.
