KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Associate to join our Economic & Valuation Services (EVS) ( practice.


  • Research, analyze and communicate the key qualitative factors and quantitative drivers of companies and industries

  • Evaluate business plans, adjust financial statements and build financial models, including discounted cash flow analysis and weighted average cost of capital using the capital asset pricing model

  • Conduct due diligence on pending mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, public-company purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment measurement, international restructurings and private-company fairness opinions

  • Assist with the valuation of tangible and intangible assets, including customer relationships, trademarks/trade names and non-compete agreements, through report preparation, proposals and executive presentations for financial reporting, regulatory or business planning purposes; prepare valuation and/or transfer pricing reports for closely held or publicly traded companies

  • Interview senior client management, identify and evaluate critical valuation related inputs from large quantity of diverse information and concisely document findings


  • Must be pursuing and have obtained by the start date or have completed the following degrees/majors in the past 12 months: Bachelor's degree or Master's in Accounting, Economics, Business, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics from an accredited college/university

  • Coursework or minor in Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Science or Data and Analytics or related field is preferred

  • Bilingual in English and Japanese with ability to use both Japanese and English language skills in a business environment

  • Must have a current/most recent GPA of 3.00 or above

  • Knowledge of strategic transfer pricing studies, financial statement analysis, quantitative and competitive analysis, statistical sampling and econometrics, strategy evaluation and/or operational performance analysis

  • Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills and ability to navigate MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Access, Power BI), Alteryx, Tableau and similar data analysis and visualization tools

  • Excellent communication, time management and leadership skills; flexible and adaptable team player; and resourceful in delivering high quality work

  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice

  • Tax professionals may have the opportunity to work virtually/remotely within the U.S. depending on business needs
