New York Edge is the largest provider of after school and summer camp programs in New York City public schools. The Teacher’s primary concern is the facilitation of learning opportunities for students attending the New York Edge Champions Club After School Program. The Teacher is an on-site instructional leader who works in close collaboration with front-line staff ( Group Leaders and Activity Specialists) in the delivery of skill-based curricula and thematic project s . Their role is to lead instruction and enrichment activities relative to the specified content area and support program goals by ensuring curricul a and activities are structured, age-appropriate, aligned to school day instructional practices and model effective classroom management (as needed).

Our programs typically run from 3-6pm during the week and we often have opportunities throughout the 5 boroughs.
Essential Job Functions:
Facilitates classroom instruction align ed with New York Edge quality standards during academic and enrichment activities.
Emphasizes implementation of curricula to support school-day instruction .
Collaborates with front-line staff in delivering effective and meaningful classroom instruction within the specified content area.
Ensures activity lesson plans and projects are age-appropriate and have clear learning objectives.
Assesses the effectiveness and success of the approved curriculum and recommends changes based on student work .
Surveys opportunities for staff development as it relates to instructional strategies within the specified content area.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of current educational trends in curriculum and instruction within the specified content area.
Must have in-depth knowledge of activities that support project and inquiry-based work, and practice of targeted learning skills.
Understanding and experience of education in an urban setting.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families and school partners including school administration and staff.
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
Teach er Certification
Advanced degree in Education preferred
At least three years of classroom experience in an urban setting
Proven track record of success in the classroom
Experience working with students differentiated learning styles.
Experience supervising school staff a plus.
If needed, must pass a pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to fingerprinting, employment history and background check
Covid-19 Related Requirements:
Proof of Vaccination is required.
Must be willing to adhere to all federal, state, and local mandates regarding the Covid-19 virus which include but are not limited to wearing PPE and remaining socially distant
