Fashion Institute of Technology Temporary Human Resources Assistant in New York, New York
The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), part of the State University of New York and an internationally renowned college of art, design, business and technology with a strong emphasis on liberal arts, invites applications for a full-time temporary position serving as a Human Resources Assistant. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Temporary Human Resources Assistant will provide a broad range of administrative and operational support to the Office of Human Resources. The incumbent serves as the primary point of contact for new employees completing the onboarding process. Responsibilities: *This is a general description and is not to be construed as all-inclusive. Complete new onboarding process efficiently to ensure employees have timely access to FIT services and a positive onboarding experience. Perform data entry including entering new employees into the HR database, BANNER. Maintain, and follow-up on completion of new employees' files, i.e., applications, confidential data forms and adjunct faculty background checks. Provide detailed information regarding employment and HR related procedures and processes. Verify in-person submission of I-9 documents to determine eligibility of employment and reciprocal I-9 processing. Maintain and organize both print and electronic files systems for access and archival purposes. Assist in special projects as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Associate's degree required 1-2 years of experience in human resources, administrative support or HR internship experience Strong written and communication skills with acute attention to detail Outstanding customer service and passion for delivering service excellence Proven ability to multitask, handle confidential information with tact and discretion Ability to work with and retain confidential information in accordance with college procedures Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor's degree preferred Previous Banner and I-9/E-Verify experience Previous applicant tracking system and onboarding experience preferred Previous experience using Smartsheet MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Read Comprehend- Constant; Perform Calculations- Occasional; Communicate Orally- Constant; Reason & Analyze- Frequent; Write- Frequent WORKING ENVIRONMENT Office PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Sit- Constant; Stand-Occasional; Bend- Occasional; Walk- Occasional; Climb- Occasional; Pull- Occasional; Push- Occasional; Lift<10- Occasional; Lift 10-20- Occasional; Lift over 50- Occasional; Reach- Occasional ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Days/Hours: M-F, 9am-5pm, in person; extra hours may be required in busy season 4-Day Summer Workweek Review of applications will begin immediately until the position is filled.
