The Friedman Transfer Scholars Program is a new transfer pathway model designed to provide access to Macaulay Honors College to transfer students from CUNY community colleges. The program provides students with tuition scholarships, tailored advising, and early integration into the Macaulay learning community. It also features components to enhance resilience, inclusion, and career success, such as expanded research opportunities, faculty mentorship, intensive summer programming, and financial support for experiential learning.
Macaulay Honors College is inviting applications for the position of Transfer Enrollment and Retention Specialist. This position supports all enrollment aspects of the Friedman Transfer Scholars Program and plays an important role in managing retention efforts for the college.
Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management at Macaulay Honors College, the Transfer Enrollment and Retention Specialist will be part of a cross-divisional team responsible for the implementation of the Friedman Transfer Scholars Program and managing student retention initiatives across the College. This individual will co-chair the Student Support Team (Macaulay’s CARE Team) and co-coordinate a student peer leader program to assist students on academic support (honors academic probation) back to good academic standing. NOTE: This position requires frequent travel throughout the five boroughs of NYC.
The ideal candidate for the position is a highly collaborative professional who is knowledgeable about admissions and enrollment processes and familiar with student support services. They have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse stakeholders; strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to assess program effectiveness. They are skilled in relevant software and technology tools and have the ability to manage large datasets with accuracy. They have organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
This position is funded for up to 4 years, with a possibility of extension.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage the annual recruitment process for the Friedman Transfer Scholars Program
Develop and deliver a range of engaging in-person, virtual and hybrid enrollment activities.
Develop and strengthen relationships with CUNY community college and senior college partners to support transfer enrollment and college student retention.
Develop effective communication strategies to engage transfer students, parents, and families to keep them informed about relevant deadlines, events, and resources, using various communication channels, such as email, social media, and websites.
In collaboration with the Academic Director of the Friedman Transfer Scholars Program, develop and implement summer engagement and orientation activities to familiarize transfer students with campus resources, academic policies, and support services.
Provide support to transfer students and their families during the recruitment and enrollment process.
Serve as the co-chair of the Macaulay Student Support Team (Macaulay’s CARE Team) for students on Academic Support (Honors Academic Probation), managing the referral process and tracking student data.
Serve as a member of the Macaulay Honors College Progress Review Committee.
Assist the supervisor of the Collaborative Academic Recovery Program Student Peer Leaders for one year and assume supervision of the Peer Leaders in year two.
Serve as a liaison to support services within Macaulay, across the eight senior colleges, and in New York City to create pathways to support at-risk students and enhance student support and engagement.
Collect and analyze data related to transfer student enrollment, retention, and graduation rates; prepare reports and presentations; assess program effectiveness, identify trends, and recommend improvements to enhance student success.
Assist with all Macaulay Honors College recruitment and admissions activities.
Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work on-site in the office.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree and two years related experience required.
A preferred candidate should have:
Master’s degree in a related field.
Experience working with transfer students in a higher education background.
Knowledge of college admissions and enrollment processes.
Knowledge of college retention initiatives and best practices.
Familiarity with student support services.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Analytical skills to assess data and evaluate program effectiveness.
Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Knowledge of relevant software and technology tools
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Prepares and reviews student communication materials.
May coordinate aspects of student entry from point of allocation to include orientation, advisement, and collection of admitted student documents.
May supervise office operations and/or department budget

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$70,238 - $79,188. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
