Trim Developer: Become the Newest Member of the VF Family

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • Trim design, development, innovation, and sourcing across multiple categories including: Sweatshirts, Hats, Jackets, and various Knit categories

  • Conduct regular factory visits, sourcing trips, attend shows as needed both domestically and internationally

  • Complete seasonal market research in order to present new concepts in all trim materials

  • Responsible for presentations to creative teams and our Creative Director

  • Design and manage special projects label packages

  • Lead factory development in creation of new trim styles from concept to production

  • Source and develop trims both domestically and globally as needed to ensure consistent quality and design integrity

  • Communicate pertinent development information to vendors as and when needed

  • Maintain seasonal trim development list this includes but is not limited to communicating development status, changes, and general concerns to Design and Product Development

  • Create and maintain tools needed for Development team including but not limited to seasonal trim board, trim detail sheets, and trim library

  • Partner with design, understand their ideas and bring a vision of trims to life

  • Facilitate sourcing and verify suppliers, track and facilitate prototyping for all trims with information such as lead time and costing

  • Handle day to day communication and submit new developments with the supplier

  • Negotiate Production pricing following carefully competitive industrial standards based on our volume

  • Develop and bring onboard new factory sources to continue refining and improving the product

  • Orchestrate the trim development process including passing, quality comments, lab dip comments, tech pack updates etc.

Years of Related Professional Experience: 5-7 years

Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in Product Development or Trim Development

  • In depth knowledge of trims, sourcing, and development

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict timelines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work extended hours when necessary

  • Proficiency in Illustrator, Excel, Word, Illustrator, PLM

  • Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of workflow including prioritization, planning, and delegation

  • Have exceptional organizational and leadership skills

  • Self-motivated and decisive

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Comprehensive assessment of brand and ability to absorb unique perspective

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Travel by air and overnight, as required 20% amount of time.
