As an Underwriting Insurance Manager, within the Financial Services Organization you’ll help our clients grow and translate their strategy into reality. Whether developing a target operating model, defining the Property and Casualty insurance technical product architecture, developing high-level technical requirements, or leading an underwriting and/or policy system implementation, all of our services are provided through our service line delivery methodology. We have the opportunity to provide exceptional client service by bringing the full suite of permitted services to our client responsively. By using relevant service line, area and sector insights, account teams can convert more opportunities into EY engagements and continue winning in the market.

Your key responsibilities

You’re likely to spend most of your time on operational aspects of client business. That means developing an in-depth understanding of our clients’ unique needs and goals, before leading a team in developing and delivering meaningful improvement insights. You’ll be responsible for delivering a project at a client site which means you will need to communicate effective new strategies and the plan to bring these strategies to life with your team. Since you’ll regularly be onsite with our clients, a significant amount of out-of-town travel will be involved in this role.

  • Responding to complex issues in a wide range of subjects including insurance applications, system consolidation, InsurTech trends, data privacy, project delivery methodology, global competition and breaking into new markets

  • Leading through uncertainty, and comfort with managing ambiguous client and engagement situations

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor's degree and approximately 10 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 8 years of related work experience

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience working in Property and Casualty (P&C) underwriting commercial lines or specialty lines are preferred; Consulting experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise teams of business advisors through all phases of the project lifecycle, including requirements definition, application mapping, technical design, application development, and testing

  • Demonstrated ability to sell insurance related services

  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, client service and business writing and consulting skills, coupled with a strong interest in further designing, developing and integrating business operations and technology

  • Ability to research client inquiries and emerging issues, property and casualty insurance industry practices, and new application technologies

  • A valid driver's license in the US and a valid passport required; willingness and ability to travel internationally

  • Demonstrated ability in solution design, estimation, requirements elicitation, configuration of Duck Creek’s Billing module.

o Duck Creek Billing certification is a plus, but not mandatory

  • Demonstrated ability to lead from the front, including willingness to take on hands-on configuration, requirements and design tasks

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience with the following vendor products: Adaptik PolicyWriter, Duck Creek, Guidewire Policy, Guidewire Underwriting Management
