Responsibilities

  • The Managing Consultant role is responsible for project oversight and business development to support the growth of our United Nations account. The role involves engagement management, stakeholder management, project management, and supporting business development activities such as proposal development, opportunity pipeline development and professional networking. The role also involves practice development activities including creation of new service solution offerings; authoring thought leadership and white papers; mentoring and coaching consulting staff; and collaborating with other segment leaders.

Qualifications

Minimum Years of Experience: 6-10 years Management Consulting with at least 4 years minimum in State & Local Government sector

Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree

Desired - MBA, MPA or other Master’s degree in Public Policy, Government, Political/Social Science, Information Systems, Operational Research, Management, International Development, Economics, Urban Science and/or related fields.

  • Manage client relationships and provide oversight for existing projects and engagements

  • Nurture and expand the company’s relationship with stakeholders/customers

  • Keep abreast of relevant client issues and challenges

  • Support business development efforts and lead business development planning

  • Lead proposal development

  • Manage an opportunity pipeline development

  • Identify opportunities for professional networking

  • Identify relevant solutions for our clients

  • Support the development of relevant and tailored thought leadership and white papers

  • Mentoring and coaching consulting staff

  • Collaborate with other firm leaders in order to bring the best of the entire firm to our clients

  • Keep abreast of competition and competitive issues

  • Practice effective, excellent communication with management, customers and firm staff

  • Travel to customer locations in support of project management and sales efforts as necessary

    Required:

  • Extensive knowledge and/or a proven record of success in core management consulting skills and the ability to lead clients through complex challenges

  • Experience sourcing and leading proposal development efforts for client engagement opportunities

  • Ability to articulate leading business issues and trends, including the associated technology implications within one or more industries

  • Strong program management skills with experience managing and delivering complex and critical programs

  • Ability to identify and address client needs

  • Ability to communicate clearly and prepare concise, accurate documents

  • Ability to maintain project economics

  • Ability to remain flexible as unanticipated issues arise

  • Experience managing multiple engagements and client needs

  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a client-driven environment

  • Ability to provide candid, meaningful feedback in a timely manner

  • Experience keeping leadership informed of progress and issues, and answering questions and offer direction to staff

  • Ability to create a positive environment while managing staff workloads

  • Experience working with the United Nations system for five years or more

    Preferred:

  • PMP

Additional Requirements

  • Certifications or credentials in related technologies, standards, methodologies, or frameworks (where applicable or available) is a plus but not required.
