New Country Day Camp is an open-tent community that celebrates and sustains joyful, outdoor summer experiences where all can thrive. We build meaningful connections with ourselves, each other, and the natural world around us through innovative programming that is rooted in Jewish tradition and guided by universal values. New Country Day Camp is an 8-week, outdoor summer camp for campers in kindergarten-8th grade. NCDC operates M-F, 8am-5pm and provides transportation for staff and campers to and from our campgrounds on Staten Island via multiple locations throughout Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. We have an inclusive camp model, so all campers and staff with disabilities/special needs are given the individual support they need to have a successful summer.

JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Operations Manager, Utility Staff members are responsible for maintaining smooth operations and logistics at New Country Day Camp. Utility staff members ensure that all camp staff have what they need throughout each camp day to run successful programming, play a vital role in ensuring that all campers have what they need to have a successful camp experience, and partner with HKC campgrounds staff to maintain a harmonious partnership and safe environment.

Direct client group: Staff and Campers of New Country Day Camp
Supervised by Operations Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIE
Logistics (Food Service, Inventory, Record-Keeping, etc.)
Collect, refrigerate, and distribute lunches that campers and staff bring to camp
Organize and properly distribute caterer delivered meals
Ensure adequate supply of snacks, all food items, and paper goods for all campers, proactively informing Operations Manager when reordering is needed
Ensure every bus and shelter is properly stocked with water bottles and first aid supplies
When needed, drive to obtain any urgently needed supplies throughout the camp day
Maintain detailed records of all supply purchases
Operations
Work with HKC staff to preform light maintenance/installations during summer months
Preform a thorough sweep of the campgrounds in the morning and report all unsafe conditions
Act as safety monitors in parking lot when needed during arrival and dismissal
Transport sick/injured campers, when necessary
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive out of campgrounds on Staten Island
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
Understand and embrace the culture of New Country Day Camp
Willingness and ability to drive a golf cart
Must be available to work from 8:30am-4:30pm M-F daily and attend all required orientation/onboarding sessions in June
Maintenance and repair skills a plus
Previous facilities and/or experience working with children a plus
Excellent organizational and oral communication skills
Ability to interact with children, families, and colleagues of diverse cultural and social backgrounds
