This position is at the NY Green Bank, a division of NYSERDA. NY Green Bank is a globally recognized sustainable investment fund. Its mission is to accelerate clean energy deployment in New York State in alignment with the Climate Act (https://climate.ny.gov/) .

NYGB collaborates with the private sector to transform financing markets. It also develops transaction structures and methodologies that overcome typical clean energy investment barriers and can serve as replicable models for other capital providers.

New York is leading the nation in the fight on global climate change and the transition to a clean energy-powered economy. The Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act) has created the most aggressive climate change goals in the nation and requires an ambitious agenda that blends proven catalysts with innovative approaches while operating across a broader energy arena that is rapidly evolving. New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) is a driving force in realizing this agenda. NYSERDA works with stakeholders that span residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors, entrepreneurs, and more, to develop, invest, and foster conditions that accomplish the following.

  • Attract the private sector capital investment needed to expand New York’s clean energy economy.

  • Overcome barriers to using clean energy at a large-scale in New York.

  • Enable New York’s communities and residents to benefit equitably from energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Job Overview

NYGB is a globally recognized sustainable investment fund with the mission to accelerate clean energy and sustainable infrastructure deployment in New York State (“NYS” or the “State”). NYGB works to increase the size, volume, and breadth of sustainable infrastructure investment activity throughout the State, expand the base of investors focused on NYS clean energy opportunities, and increase market participants’ access to capital on commercial terms. To achieve these objectives, NYGB collaborates with the private sector to develop transaction structures and methodologies that overcome typical clean energy investment barriers and serve as replicable models for other capital providers.

As of June 30, 2024, NYGB has invested more than $2.4 billion across a range of technologies including solar, wind, clean transportation, community distributed generation, energy storage, controlled environment agriculture, bioenergy, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, and others. NYGB’s investment activities demonstrate that many of the financial market barriers to sustainable infrastructure projects in NYS are surmountable.

NYGB seeks a seasoned detailed-oriented individual with a financial services background and excellent administrative, organizational, execution, and communication skills to work in the critical role of Vice President, Investment Administration & Portfolio Support (IAPS). This position reports to the IAPS Managing Director. The successful candidate will work across the organization, especially with the Investment & Portfolio Management team, Operations & Finance, Legal & Regulatory Affairs, Risk & Compliance as well as with other teams across NYGB and NYSERDA and external service providers.

The position will be located in New York City and will rarely require travel outside of New York City

Primary Responsibilities

Proactively coordinate frequent initial and subsequent funding requests

  • Draft funding checklist templates based on underlying legal documentation.

  • Authorize fundings from populated checklists.

  • Approve requests to transfer funds from external banks which may require ad hoc checklist creation.

  • Schedule fundings and create communication channels to disseminate relevant information among colleagues.

  • Review and improve checklists drafted by junior colleagues.

Onboard New & Modified Transactions

  • Register new investments in electronic databases for transaction data, reporting requirements and collateral summaries plus verify the accuracy of such information prepared by other team members.

  • Ensure transaction hard copy documents are properly stored, recorded and retained.

  • Set up control account access by NYGB for transaction accounts held at external banks and manage associated relationships as necessary.

Portfolio Management

  • Report on the timely delivery of all reporting notices and provide succinct summaries about deviations.

  • Prepare and/or verify contents of weekly reports about overall fundings, checklists, modifications & overdue reporting.

  • Assist processing of fundings and amendments by gathering control account and other information for use by investment team and updating records as necessary.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of new systems to improve position’s functions.

  • Perform ad hoc analyses and research to support NYGB’s teams and mission and other responsibilities as needed.

  • Ability to demonstrate respect, equity and inclusive behavior and practices of a diverse workforce and community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree with at least 5years of work experience.

  • Experience with due diligence in complex transactions, ideally financial in nature but can include construction, maritime or other areas where the ability to understand complex underlying documentation and contracts is necessary.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to succinctly summarize concepts and situations.

  • Self-starter able to organize own and other’s workload priorities with an ability and desire to coach junior colleagues.

  • Able to handle a large volume and variety of projects and transactions in parallel.

  • Consistent adherence to strict and time sensitive deadlines.

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing needs and priorities.

  • Possess a strong sense of professional judgment and ability to solve problems creatively.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; CRM and Microsoft SharePoint experience helpful.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related degree with prior experience in project finance, especially clean energy with 4 years of experience is a plus.

  • Experience with loan administration, compliance and/or portfolio management is an advantage.
