Autism Speaks Vice President, Services and Support in New York, New York

We are seeking a Vice President, Services & Support! Ideally, individual will be home based on the East Coast. However, w e are open and flexible to candidates in other locations as well.

PURPOSE : T h e Vice President, Services and Support, i s r es p o n s i b l e f or de ve lo p i n g and implementing an evidence-based program of work for Autism Speaks that provides strategic information and support services to people with autism and their families across the spectrum and at pivotal points in the developmental trajectory across the lifespan.

Guided by Autism Speaks 10-year vision and strategic plan, this position will identify best practices in autism service delivery and work to widely disseminate across the autism community. Wit h in a c h a n ging e n v iro nm e n t, t h e r o l e w ill b u ild n e w o pp ort un i t i e s , se r v e as t h e o r ga n iz a ti on ’s l e ad s p ok e s p e r s on to p r ov i d e i m m e d ia t e answers to h igh l ev e l, cro s s -f un ctio n al qu e s ti on s a n d provide d ir e ction for mission delivery in this area in collaboration with research, public health, and advocacy functions.

E sse n ti a l F un ctio n s:

  • Oversee and develop scalable programs that provide information and support services to the autism community, with an emphasis on assisting individuals and families understand their options and access relevant public and private services. This includes oversight and optimization of current programing such as the Autism Speaks Autism Response Team and Adult Services, the latter including vocational, housing and healthcare-transition support.

  • S e r v e a s a key m em b e r of t h e leadership team a n d p art n e r w ith t h e CSO and other leadership to e n s u re a lig n me n t on a ll p r o gram m a t ic c o mm un icati o n an d m e ss a g i n g.

  • Evaluate existing Autism Speaks programs and services and ensure all future programs, information, and interventions are evidence-based and impactful

  • Participate in the strategic plan and business plan process to help envision and implement programs, policies and models that provide the most good to the most people.

  • Help d e v e l o p a n d d ir e ct t h e e x e c u ti o n of p r o gram s , p ol i ci e s a n d s e r v ic e s a s t h e y r e la t e to t h e organization’s related mission objectives.

  • Oversee, develop strategy and implementation of mission delivery strategy for Services & Supports department to support diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion business plan goals.

  • Change management (particularly around getting outside organizations to adopt positive practices and programs)

  • Foster internal collaboration with science and public health teams regarding turning the evidence-base into programs and practices that can be implemented and with the field team on increasing local implementation of these programs and practices.

  • Close collaboration with corporate team on strategy and development of partnerships

  • Strategy and oversight of development and implementation of programs and services delivered by Services and Supports team members to our corporate and other partners

  • Close collaboration with advocacy to improve funding and regulation around evidence-based practices.

  • As a supervisor, you are responsible for the day to day performance and achievement of your team. This includes providing leadership, mentorship, training and development.

    E x p e r i e nc e & G e n e r al R e qu i r e m e n ts

  • Minimum of 5 years of Public Health experience, service provider or clinical experience environment; 15 + years of experience with progressive responsibility in a related field, broadly defined

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the autism field

  • Minimum of MA/MSc required, relevant PhD and/or BCBA a plus

  • Strong awareness o f pub lic p olicy i s s ue s as they relate to services and supports , including the effects of local, state, or f e d e ral agenc i e s on autism c a r e an d su pp ort

  • E x p e ri e n ce in creation , e x e c u t i on a n d ev al u a t ion of p r o gr a m s, i n clu d i n g d es i g n , bud g e t d eve lo p me n t , bu s i ne s s p la nn i n g an d ev al u a t io n . Extensive experience in developing evidence-based programs and curriculum is required.
