The New York Foundling Virtual Activity Leader - Camp Felix in New York, New York

Virtual Activity Leaders will work under direct supervision of the Camp Felix Program Director to deliver safe, enriching, interactive and entertaining virtual programming for registered campers. Specific responsibilities include:
Participate in planning and implementing engaging online programming for campers ages 8-15
Lead daily virtual activities via Zoom or other online platform for campers
Ensure strict adherence to schedule – starting and ending programming on time.
Use creative techniques to encourage camper participation and engagement during the virtual activity.
Help to prevent, recognize and address dangerous/inappropriate online behavior by participants during activity.
Help recognize and handle any emergencies/crises that come up during activities as per Camp Felix policies and procedures.
Help campers grow and develop by providing positive reinforcement, guidance, and support during online activities.
Utilize positive and supportive techniques and strategies to resolve problems and enforce discipline among campers during online activities.
Participate in virtual staff training during the week of July 27th, run virtual programming daily (M-F) Aug 3-28th. Other duties as assigned.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a High School or GED diploma.
Must have knowledge of or experience working in summer camps; experience with virtual learning preferred.
Must be able to lead programming virtually from their home for approximately 10 hours per week (Monday through Friday).
Must be computer proficient and comfortable leading/participating in all virtual activities with the children and encouraging them to participate as well.
Must have experience working with children in some capacity, preferably in an educational setting.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Exhibit qualities such as patience, kindness, honestly, responsibility, compassion, and desire to help others.
Knowledge of or familiarity with the issues/needs of children involved in the child welfare system preferred.
Must be able to follow rules, guidelines, and policies enforced by supervisor.
Must be a team player.
