GlobalFoundries Waste Treatment Technician - Plant Operator in New York, New York

Summary of Role:




GLOBALFOUNDRIES (GF) is looking for an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator with a Grade 3A or 4A Operator Certification from NYSDEC. The operator should have several years of experience running an activated sludge treatment plant with knowledge of the operations, laboratory, and maintenance tasks necessary to maintain continuous operation of the plant and full compliance with NYSDEC regulations. GF’s plant provides final treatment at the East Fishkill Site and direct discharges to a stream through a permitted outfall. This operator will function as part of a team that is responsible for proper system operation, preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and schedules, and response to system alarms and controls. Primary work activities will include system & equipment maintenance and daily regulatory activities, with some tasks related to control system support and alarm response. Operators must be able to work with engineers & managers in a team environment with a focus on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities are important, as well as identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. A background in chemical handling, laboratory analysis, wastewater quality, and/or electrical/mechanical troubleshooting are helpful.



Essential Details & Responsibilities:





  • Position is for day shift. Overtime may be required at times. Emergency call-ins are also a possibility.



  • Primary responsibility is to operate and deliver ownership of a Class 3A waste treatment plant.



  • Working outside to implement certain job responsibilities will be needed in all seasons.



  • Working in noisy areas and the ability to handle chemicals / chemical handling equipment safely will be required, as will working in a standing position for most of an 8 hour shift (excluding breaks).



  • The ability to recognize and independently respond to system and equipment malfunctions is important to the position.



  • Use of all site operation systems, including shift logs to communicate and collaborate across a three shift operation is required.



  • Familiarity with and utilization of tools and practices to ensure continuous improvement is a benefit.



  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.



  • Performing all activities in a safe and responsible manner and supporting all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs is required.









Qualifications

Required Qualifications:





  • Education: Technical/Associates Degree in Science, Engineering, Semi-Conductor Manufacturing or a related discipline or Military Equivalent.

  • Experience: 8 years of relevant experience

  • Able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the shift (preventive maintenance) and/or process issues ability to perform maintenance activities, and work in the standing position for majority of a 8 hour shift (excluding breaks).
