Your Role and Responsibilities

To help drive this transformation, we are looking for a seasoned, dynamic leader to lead the marketing team, inspire and influence the business, and drive demand in market.
The Marketing Director, IBM Watson Advertising is responsible for leading an established team of powerhouse marketers spanning the following disciplines: Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, Event & Trade Marketing, Partner Marketing, Performance Marketing, Sales Enablement. It's a big, meaty, highly-visible role within a business that operates that operates like a start-up but has access to the breadth and depth of experience, technology and resources of IBM. Win-Win.

Gain deep understanding of market needs, opportunities, challenges, and realities to take a customer-first approach to product innovation and our go-to-market strategy
Own the Watson Advertising brand and value proposition and continually educate internally and externally on the value we provide
Partner very closely with Comms to identify, develop, and execute notable 'market moments' to drive understanding of and demand for AI-driven advertising solutions
Serve as an evangelist for the brand, participating in owned, earned, paid speaking engagements and other events
Translate and position solutions to drive relevancy and adoption across key verticals/industries
Oversee co-marketing programs with strategic ecosystem partners to scale IWA's AI suite and drive reciprocal value
Consistently measure and evaluate return on marketing spend to balance revenue growth with long-term brand investment and health
Embed yourself deeply into and collaborate across the broader IBM Marketing organization to ensure alignment, elevate IWA's mission, and highlight client stories

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
15+ years of professional [non-internship] marketing experience
10+ years marketing management experience
Experience with all aspects of marketing from brand to demand
Experience building, executing, and scaling complex marketing programs, including overseeing the end-to-end strategy and coordinating the successful launch across multiple channels and/or audiences
Experience working closely with and enabling media or technology sellers
Excellent storyteller, with strong written and verbal communications abilities
Expertise at taking highly technical or complex ideas and simplifying them so that internal and external customers can easily understand
Experience driving direction and alignment across cross-functional teams
Ability to interact with senior-level management, internally and externally
Strong decision-making abilities, demonstrating bias for action under tight timing and pressure
Self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
Highly-organized and detail-oriented team player and leader
Ability to travel
