Position Summary

This is an experiential learning position that allows the Student intern to apply the theory and knowledge learned inside the classroom to the practical application and skills development within the organization.

Position Duties

Opportunities Provided:

  • Applying knowledge gained in the classroom to the needs of the department. Work performed goes beyond advancing the operations of the department or the work completed by a regular student employee.

  • The skills and knowledge learned are transferable to other employment opportunities.

  • Learning objectives/goals are clearly defined to relate to the professional goals of the student’s academic coursework.

  • The student will be supervised by a professional with expertise and educational and/or professional background in the field of experience.

  • Routine feedback is provided by the supervisor.

  • The department will provide resources, equipment, and facilities to support the learning

  • objectives/goals of the student internship.

Criteria for Internship:

  • The experience must be an extension of the classroom: a learning experience that provides for applying the knowledge gained in the classroom. It must not be simply to advance the operations of the employer or be the work that a regular employee would routinely perform.

  • The skills or knowledge learned must be transferable to other employment settings.

  • The experience has a defined beginning and end and a job description with desired qualifications.

  • There are clearly defined learning objectives/goals related to the professional goals of the student’s academic coursework.

  • There is supervision by a professional with expertise and educational and/or professional background in the field of the experience.

  • There is routine feedback from the experienced supervisor

  • There are resources, equipment, and facilities provided by the host employer that support learning objectives/goals.

    Position Qualifications

Students must:

  • Be currently enrolled at Pace and graduating from Pace University, in December 2023 or later.

  • All majors are welcome.

  • Must have an interest in human service and/or social enterprise.

  • Work full-time for eight weeks between June and September.

  • Make a 35 hours per week commitment, 280 hours total.

    Work Hours

Monday to Friday, full-time in the summer for 8 weeks. The internship must be completed

before the Fall 2023 semester starts.

Hourly Rate Range $15.00 - $19.00/hour
