Position Summary: The Director Branding and Packaging will lead the end-to-end creative ideation and execution on all brand packaging inclusive but not limited to primary, secondary, seasonal, and promotional. The ideal candidate will have a mastery of physical design capability, with a broad understanding of how packing fits in to an overall multi-touchpoint brand experience. The Director Branding and Packaging will be an integral part of the Creative eco-system, informing on innovation and trends in the space, partnering closely with senior Creative leadership.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Create highly innovative concepts and product designs in line with overall brand strategy

  • Manage the design and production of all product packaging including concept presentations (concept decks, mood boards, drawings, renderings, and models), managing of all departmental DTO’s, and packaging standards

  • Design across various consumer touchpoints, including ability to design for social, e-commerce, and specialty-multi

  • Create renders and physical comps where needed

  • Work cross-functionally to develop multiple iterations of designs for consumer testing

  • Maintain and build on sustainability goals

  • Create innovative and connected packaging solutions

  • Assist in the repacking of brand projects

  • Work with Packaging teams to identify the right components to achieve desired look and feel

  • Work with comp houses (when needed) on presentation comps

  • Oversee and manage packaging artwork retouching

  • Attending press runs and other production runs

  • Collaborate with 2D, digital, visual merchandising, packaging, product marketing, product development to create highly desired designs

  • Partner with agencies and supervise all outside services

  • Support with sourcing and utilize outside vendors, artists, and designers for new innovative package solutions. Negotiate fees and handle contracts.


  • 8 years of experience in related field.

  • Proficient in programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, as well as 3D modeling/rendering software such as KeyShot, Rhino and/or SolidWorks

  • Conceptual thinker, strong sensibility for shape and 3D visualization. Being able to ideate, develop, present, and execute projects from start to finish in highest quality

  • Highly organized, timely with financial fluency.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, on budget and can adapt changing priorities and creative approach

  • Knowledge of industrial and manufacturing processes, finishes and materials

  • Strong knowledge of competitive landscape and design/fashion trends

  • Environmentally sustainable design preferred

  • Influences internally and externally to gain commitment, agreement, and support

  • Actively builds relationships; creates and sustains environment of trust and collaboration

  • A natural visual systems-thinker, with the ability to deliver innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective designs meeting and exceeding consumer and business needs.

  • Holistic understanding of brand experience and the role packaging plays is critical.

  • Expertise in packaging innovation and smart packaging a plus (sustainable packaging, active packaging, intelligent packaging)
