Position Summary:

This Manager role is focused on the Face and the Accessories categories and reports into the category director, collaborates closely with cross-functional business partners (Product Development, Supply Chain, Creative, Packaging, Consumer Engagement, CRM, Online, Brand Finance, Global Business Planning, CRM, Regional Marketing, etc.) and is supported by one direct report.

This role encompasses five broad purposes:

  • Guide global category strategy

  • Manage in-line product portfolio

  • Guide new products launches

  • Drive functional transformation

  • Lead and guide direct report(s)

Key Roles & Respondsibilities:

Guide global category strategy (5%)

  • Own and evolve, as needed, the global category ambition, positioning, and portfolio architecture

  • Monitor and assess global category, competitive landscape, and consumer trends to inform strategic interventions

  • Assist in the development of strategic and directional 5 year category calendar and detailed 3 year calendar, encompassing both new product launches and commercial activations

  • Ensure consistent and clear cascade of category strategy to cross-functional business partners

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of global category portfolio and performance (units, sales, COGS, market share)

  • Conduct analysis and prepare documents for executive category reviews; present as needed to senior leaders

Manage in-line product portfolio (50%)

  • Define and execute inline hero strategy for category (e.g., activations, sampling, pricing overhauls)

  • Assess category performance and recommend interventions (e.g., line edits, packaging upgrades, ingredient changes)

  • Perform product reviews to ensure competitiveness of product and identify opportunities (aesthetics, delivery system, price, performance, claims and benefits)

  • Partner with holistic go-to-market teams (in-store, online experience, social/digital, and consumer marketing) to execute basic business activations (e.g., merchandising overhaul, online finders, digital/social activations)

  • Lead value analysis / cost engineering of in-line portfolio, in close partnerships with business partners

  • Oversee and alleviate product excess

  • Present monthly business updates to category director

Guide new products launches (25%)

  • Strategically engage business partners to launch products, from ideation to post-launch analysis; illustrative activities are:

o Identify whitespace opportunities, leveraging multiple resources (competitive analysis, consumer insights, syndicated research, ad hoc analysis) and cross-functional expertise (e.g., CRM data, packaging innovations, PD/suppliers insights, etc.); includes partnering with regional teams to drive regionally-inspired innovation

o Prepare concept briefs, including consumer insight, competitive positioning, and key product concept/claims, in partnership with Product Development

o Set and drive adherence to COG targets, from prelim/target to final costs, with support from Brand Finance

o Guide product claims testing to ensure alignment with concept, in partnership with Product Development

o Guide business partners to execute packaging, artwork, and copy development aligning with concept

o Review sales estimates/forecasts for launches, with support from Global Business Planning group

o Set global launch pricing strategy, with support from Corporate Pricing Group

o Closely partner with go-to-market teams to develop product launch strategies (sampling, events, PR, and launch and permanent displayers)

o Define KPIs and review product launch performance in collaboration with CRM, Consumer Marketing, GBP and regional partners, recommending takeaways for future launch

o Create launch deliverables (marketing bulletins, seasonal presentations, etc.) and present to senior leaders

Drive functional transformation (10%)

  • Constructively question ways-of-working to drive ongoing improvement

  • Cultivate a mindset relentlessly focused on consumer and aware of competition/channel influences

  • Support and advance use of data and analytics throughout the function to inform decision-making and accomplish goals

Lead and guide direct report(s) (10%)

  • Set business priorities and tasks for direct report(s)

  • Cultivate business and leadership capabilities for direct report(s)

  • Support and enable appropriate career path development


  • Strong sense of personal leadership, ownership, and accountability

  • Disruptive, entrepreneurial mindset and collaborative approach (excellent interpersonal skills)

  • Insights-driven with consumer-first focus – requires financial/data fluency and strong business acumen

  • Disciplined project management capabilities while operating with a sense of urgency

  • Strong PC skills (priority on Powerpoint/Excel)
