Job description:

The Center for Policy, Research, and Evaluation (PRE) at the NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools is seeking to hire a Project Manager to manage a new research project about how school districts across the U.S. improve equitable summer learning. This position will entail coordinating fast-moving data collection and dissemination activities, while working closely with the research team, Foundation staff, a partner organization, the participating districts, and Metro Center communications, operations, and administrative staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain project timeline; recommend adjustments to timeline as needed

  • Lead select portions of research team meetings and conduct individual check-ins with team-members as needed to assess progress

  • Maintain IRB requirements and amend IRB protocol as needed

  • Ensure cohesion and communication among distinct elements of the project

  • Send regular project updates to research team, Foundation staff, and district teams to ensure clear and ongoing communication

  • Track project expenses and maintain budget

  • Conduct interviews and focus groups with district teams

  • Code and analyze data

  • Organize and populate database of participating districts

  • Conduct background research on the history and sociopolitical context of select districts and on summer learning policies across states and cities

  • Schedule interviews

  • Take notes during meetings with Foundation staff, policymakers, advisory board

  • Process contracts with consultants, graphic designers, translators, etc.

  • Manage transcription of interview audio files

  • Support production of deliverables through communication with NYU Metro Center Communications team and graphic designer

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated awareness of race, power, privilege, and intersectionality, and a respect for diversity

  • Highly resourceful and organized, with sharp critical thinking, work-flow, and time management skills

  • Experience with project management

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities, manage timelines, and meet deadlines

  • Highly detail-oriented

  • Excellent judgment and ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Skills with Google suite apps

  • Strong analytical and writing skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills

  • Ability to be flexible and responsive to evolving project design

  • Background in research involving racial and other types of equity, preferably related to education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in or with schools and/or districts

  • Interest in summer learning or out-of-school time

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a full-time project management role

  • Master’s degree
