Maple Ridge Fruit Farm, LLC Farmworker* and Laborer, Crop in Newark, New York

2 fulltime seasonal H-2A Jobs available 01/27/2020-11/23/2020.

Duties include pruning, thinning, weeding apple trees. Prune trees seasonally to promote optimum growth of tree and fruit. Gather pruned branches from area for disposal. Preform summer pruning and suckering by cutting terminal growth and water sprouts from inside of the tree using hand pruner. Thin trees from orchard to eliminate diseased or nonproductive trees using chain saws, shears and knives. Duties include tilling soil and applying fertilizers, transplanting, weeding, thinning or pruning crops, cleaning and loading harvested products, applying pesticides. Construct trellises, repair fences and farm buildings or participate in irrigation activities. Operate tractors, tractor drawn machinery and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops. Repair and maintain bins, farm vehicles, implements and mechanical equipment. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches.

Harvest fruit by hand. Apples injured by bruising during picking shall not exceed 2%(WNY) for fresh and 2% (WNY) for processing. Productivity must be at least 4 bins (80 bushel) fresh or 5 bins (100 bushel) processing per day. Employer will furnish to workers, without cost, all tools and equipment required in the performance of the duties assigned. Workers should report for work with their own suitable work clothing. Workers are exposed to wet/snowy weather. Field temps may range from below 0 (F) to 90 degrees (F). Work required in fields when wet with dew and/or rain and may be required during snow, moderate winds and direct sun

Requirements:

* Workers referred against this order must have a minimum of three months experience.
* Exposure to extreme temperatures.
* Repetitive movements/extensive pushing, pulling and walking/frequent stooping.
* Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
