Depending on location, this position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts. Clinical personnel are expected to:

•Have ability to work with a diverse population of students. •Provide students with a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning. •Provide targeted interventions to teach social, emotional, behavioral regulation. •Provide group and/or individual counseling using evidence-based interventions. •Gather data, create Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans. •Collaborate and consult with community-based providers, parents, component districts, colleagues and provide resources to meet student learning needs. •Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders. •Record and report student progress.

Job Qualifications

NYS School Counselor, School Psychologist or School Social Worker Certification

Candidates should possess a broad skill set to engage learners of all levels including, but not limited to:

•Knowledge of skills related to trauma, illness, grief, crisis intervention, identifying level of functioning forstudents. •Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team. •Excellent written and oral communication skills. •Promoting equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments.

Job responsibility may require individual to do one and two person lifts and/or physical interventions on a daily basis with students weighing 50-200 pounds. Position requires the successful completion of all elements of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training. W-FL BOCES provides Initial and refresher TCI Trainings.
