Kelly Services is seeking candidates for a part time (30 hours a week) Fruit Quality Technician role with a company, in Newburgh, New York.

This role is short term, anticipated to be mid-July through October.

Roles Responsibility will include:

Job Title: Fruit Quality Technician

Company Description: AgroFresh is a leader in ethylene management and storage processes to the global horticultural and post-harvest perishables segment.

Description: This position reports to the area Technical Account Manager to support commercial and technical activities offered by AgroFresh. Provide updated pictures of starch hydrolysis to the Account Managers.

Primary Focus:

  1. Collect pictures of starch hydrolysis on designated apple blocks every 3-5 days directed by the assigned Account Manager. Complete any other tasks as allocated by Account Manager.

  2. Operate independently and takes initiative in accomplishing job responsibilities.

  3. Appropriate time management skills including efficiency.

  4. Good communication skills with ability to interface well with wide variety of people.

  5. Positive attitude, with an open-minded approach to learning.

  6. Ability to drive and interact in orchard environments in a safe and respectful manner.

  7. Follows protocols and instructions accurately EVERY time.

Primary Activities:

  1. Communicate with key apple growers (i.e. customers) in the Lower Hudson Valley, NY region to coordinate starch hydrolysis testing.

  2. Build relationships with growers and key employees of our storage customers becoming familiar with the mechanics of their business.

  3. Pick and transport fruit samples as required by the Technical Account Manager.

  4. Become familiar with AgroFresh products, apple storage refrigeration, and the apple industry.

  5. Participate in research field trials as directed by the Technical Account Manager.

  6. Be able to work independently without constant supervision.

Job Requirements:

  • Work part-time from mid-July until November.

  • History of work-related successes.

  • Strong interpersonal skills (build relationships).

  • High degree of integrity and ethical conduct;

  • Extensive travel and long hours during peak seasons.

  • Strong bias for action.

  • Exceptional time management skills.

  • Highly effective communication and basic computer skills.

  • Ability to identify areas of improvement in current operating systems.

Desired Skills: Experience working outside in hot, dry conditions, lifting up to 50 lbs, experience driving a 1/2 ton truck and hauling equipment, excellent organization skills, sales experience, mechanical aptitude, research experience.

  1. Assistance in the production of AgroFresh tablet formulation.

  2. Follow instructions given by the onsite AgroFresh employees.

  3. Tech savvy

Qualifications

Education

  • High school

Experience (preferred)

  • Experience in industrial plant

  • Experience with Tree Fruit

  • must be able to lift 25 lbs.

  • Primary location: Newburgh, New York employee must be local
