Repair and maintain machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings.


  • Preventative Maintenance

  • Checks machinery to ensure proper functioning.

  • Performs overall visual inspection.

  • Listens for sounds that might indicate problems.

  • Services gear boxed, reservoirs.

  • Lubricates, greases, and oils all equipment.

  • Maintains records of PM maintenance work.

  • Small engine repair.

  • Mechanical engineering.

  • Training operators on new machines.

  • Machine Repair:

  • Repairs or fabricates parts as needed.

  • Performs welding operation to repair machines.

  • Trouble shoots malfunctioning equipment using technical manuals as guidelines.

  • Tears down/rebuilds worn out components.

  • Coordinates scheduled maintenance with production supervisors & operators.

  • Maintains records of repair work.

  • Pipe Fitting:

  • Runs air lines or water lines.

  • Welds pipe for low-pressure lines.

  • Rebuilds hydraulic cylinders, pumps, and valves.

  • Sets up regulator systems.

  • Pressure tests systems.

  • Modifies existing systems and installs new systems.

  • Make hydraulic hoses and lines.

  • Repairs and replaces fluid valves and actuators.

  • Repair and maintain machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings.

  • Carpentry:

  • Remodels and/or builds offices

  • Performs general building repairs.

  • Performs interior and exterior painting.

  • Welding:

  • Designs &/or fabricates new parts, or repairs broken parts as required.

  • Perform gas or arc welding as required.

  • Housekeeping:

  • Cleans shop.

  • Checks tools to ensure proper working order.

  • Safety:

  • Follows standard operating procedure for safe operations.

  • Responds to work orders for malfunctioning safety equipment.

  • Repairs and malfunctioning safety devises.

  • Installs safety devises.

  • Wears protective equipment as required.

  • Operates forklift truck & other equipment in a safe & efficient manner.

  • Quality:

  • Works with operator to identify & solve equipment/machine problems that effect product quality.


    This position is responsible for day-to-day maintenance & trouble shooting in order to keep the plant functioning. Keeps an inventory of machine parts & hardware on-hand.

  • Maintenance, plant, and office personnel.

  • Vendors & contractors occasionally.

    High school or equivalent plus some maintenance experience required. High school courses in mechanical drawing, electricity, wood working, blueprint reading, science, mathematics. Computer skills would be useful. Journey papers desirable.


    This position requires heavy physical activity. Heavy lifting, using hoists or getting assistance from operators or other maintenance department personnel.

    Continuous holding, use of manual dexterity, smelling, talking use of hand or power tools, use of visual acuity & peripheral vision, walking.

    Frequent balancing on roof to service equipment, bending, carrying, climbing ladders, collating, crouching, cutting, use of depth perception, dialing a phone, fastening, hearing, installing, kneeling, lifting up to 100 lbs. Waist high, operating a machine, squatting, stooping, tightening, writing. May have to stand for long period of time, and work in uncomfortably hot or cold environments, in awkward or cramped positions or on ladders.

    Occasional cleaning, crawling, driving forklift truck, filing, locking, mixing, painting, running, scraping, sitting, stapling.

    This position requires patience, ability to work within time constraints. Must be able to get along with others and interface well with vendors.

    Because this position works outside, as well as in the plant, working conditions will be cold in winter, hot and humid in summer. The plant is noisy, dusty.

    Works any shift as assigned & occasional overtime as required. Safety glasses and safety shoes required. Respirator & hearing protection recommended. Must be certified to drive a forklift truck.
