SUNY Oneonta Academic Coach in Oneonta, New York

The Department of the Student Learning Center at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Academic Coach. Your mission will be to inspire, motivate, and empower learners to overcome challenges, develop effective study habits, and cultivate the skills they need to succeed not only in their academic endeavors, but also in their future careers and personal aspirations.This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure position. Expectations include tutoring, teaching, and participating in the development and delivery of writing or math, learning strategies, and study skills support; conducting academic coaching tutorials in writing or math, study skills, time management, and independent learning strategies; tutoring students in one-on-one, group, and/or workshop formats in writing or math; maintaining records and assisting in the planning and updating of placement policies.The Student Learning Center provides a supportive environment that empowers students to become engaged, confident, and self-aware learners who can communicate clearly and achieve their goals in college and in life. Our tutoring and writing center services are available to all enrolled SUNY Oneonta students. To learn more about the University or the Department, please visit https://suny.oneonta.edu/ or https://suny.oneonta.edu/student-learning-centerDuties include but are not limited to:Provide support through tutoring or teaching math, writing, or learning strategies content and coursework in the Student Learning Center, occasionally in conjunction with other academic departments.Tutor students in one-on-one, group, and workshop formats.Provide academic coaching to assist students in developing student skills, independent learning strategies, and writing or math.Maintain records of student interactions.Supervise and assist peer tutors in the Tutoring Center.Collaborate with coworkers and outside academic departments in course development. Assist in the planning and execution of placement policies and procedures.Develop and execute presentations about learning strategies, The Student Learning Center, writing, or math.Some evening and weekend work may be required throughout the year to support students like tutoring supervision and Orientation work.Salary: $53,151. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found at https://www.suny.edu/benefits.Requirements:Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in STEM, Math, Writing, English, Education, or other relevant disciplinary experience.Experience working with and serving diverse populations.Flexible availability to accommodate varying student schedules throughout the academic year.Preferred:Master's degree in Math, English, Education, or related field.
