SUNY Oneonta Acquisitions and Collections Management Assistant in Oneonta, New York
The James M. Milne Library at the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Acquisitions and Collections Management Assistant. The Acquisitions Assistant is a 12-month professional staff position in the Bibliographic and Digital Services department, reporting to the Head of Bibliographic and Digital Services.
The Acquisitions and Collections Management Assistant works closely with both the Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Librarian and the Head of Bibliographic and Digital Services regarding academic department monograph allocations and deadlines, the purchasing of materials from the library monograph budget, with regards to damaged library materials, and the re-ordering of lost or damaged library materials.
The Acquisitions Assistant will participate in activities that contribute to professional growth, including library committees and teams, college committees, and attending presentations, training sessions, and webinars.

Responsibilities of the position include:
• Receiving all requests for new monographic library acquisitions from academic departmental faculty and librarians.
• Coordinating ordering, receiving and processing of new materials and verifying that bibliographic information and pricing of titles requested is accurate.
• Making decisions on where, how and what format to order based on the library’s collection development policies.
• Utilizing networked Library management systems for monographic acquisitions.
• Serving as the primary contact person for monographic vendors.
• Communicating with stakeholders and troubleshooting to resolve issues and questions with order requests and materials.
• Managing the monographic budget.
• Creating lists of titles purchased for all academic departments.
• Performing minor repairs of damaged books as necessary and ordering replacement materials for books that cannot be repaired based on availability, cost and circulation statistics.
• Creating reports for statistical purposes.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications: bachelor’s degree; experience working in a library; ability to work as a member of a team.
Preferred: demonstrated knowledge or experience in acquisitions and collection development procedures; familiarity with the Alma/Primo library management system; demonstrated proficiency with commonly used Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel spreadsheets; experience working with and serving diverse populations.
