SUNY Oneonta Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Librarian in Oneonta, New York

The James M. Milne Library at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Librarian. This is a twelve-month, tenure-track librarian position reporting to the Head of Bibliographic and Digital Services. Expectations include, but are not limited to, the responsibility for electronic resource management and acquisitions operations.

SUNY Oneonta is a public college in Central New York, enrolling about 6,500 students in bachelor’s, master’s and graduate certificate programs. Most of SUNY Oneonta’s main campus lies within the City of Oneonta, which is located in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about a four-hour drive from New York City, Boston and Philadelphia. With a population just shy of 14,000, the City of Oneonta is the largest municipality in a rural region dominated by agriculture and tourism.

Duties include but not limited to: management of serials and electronic resources using the Alma electronic resources management system; gathering and reporting acquisitions and electronic resources analytics data; ordering, reporting, and budget management of monographic acquisitions; working closely with faculty members in ordering materials; and supervising the acquisitions assistant in using YBP Library Services’ GOBI ordering system. Other responsibilities include cataloging (dependent upon familiarity with AACR2 and RDA practices), and processing of educational materials and curricular items for elementary and secondary education programs offered at the College. The successful candidate will serve as liaison to selected academic departments, assist at the research help desk, and participate in a night/weekend schedule.

Required Qualifications: master’s degree in library or information sciences or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program at time of appointment; demonstrated excellence in written communication and presentation skills.

Preferred: second master’s degree; experience in acquisitions and collection development procedures; experience in fiscal management techniques; familiarity with the Alma library management system; demonstrated proficiency with commonly used Microsoft Office programs; familiarity with Excel spreadsheets; evidence of participation in team-based initiatives; experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching experience.
