SUNY Oneonta Admissions Counselors - NYC and Nassau County in Oneonta, New York

The Office of Admissions at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for two separate Regional Admissions Counselor positions. These positions will support a full range of first year and transfer admissions activities. Both positions are location based; one working primarily in New York City and the second working primarily in Nassau County.

The successful candidates, to be regionally based in NYC and Nassau County, will join a dedicated team, committed to serving students and their families. Duties include but are not limited to:
Recruitment travel in the NY metropolitan region including, but not limited to, the 5 boroughs, Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, Westchester, Connecticut, and New Jersey; application review and evaluation; prospect generation; establishing and fostering relationships with college counselors, prospective students and families, community college advisors, agencies, and organizations; extensive outreach efforts to develop awareness of SUNY Oneonta to target audiences; large group presentations.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Demonstrated experience in college admissions or related area within higher education
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability and willingness to live and travel in the New York metropolitan area
• Ability and willingness to work from a home office
• Demonstrated effective written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to travel overnight and work evenings and weekends

Preferred
• Previous experience counseling/working with New York City students, families and/or CBO’s
• Spanish proficiency
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
