Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer

Description:  Hartwick College is seeking to fill a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer, to help provide support to the Head Athletic Trainer and Athletics Department in the daily function of the Athletic Department.  The College offers 19 sports and the NCAA Division III level including football.  This is a 9-month, annually renewable position.

Responsibilities:  The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting the head athletic trainer with management of Hartwick College's comprehensive Sports Medicine program.  The assistant athletic trainer will work collaboratively with, and provide oversight for, all athletic training services, including:

  • Provide daily injury prevention, on-site evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of student-athletes.

  • Provide emergency medical evaluation, treatment and injury triage during practices, home contests, and selected away competitions.

  • Work cooperatively with the team physician(s), Director of College Health Services, and coaches for the health and welfare of all student-athletes participating on the College's NCAA Division III sanctioned athletic teams.

  • Maintain appropriate clinical records and prepare reports as required.

  • Coordinate proper pre-season physical screening for all athletes.

  • Work cooperatively with coaching staff and administration and communicate effectively.

  • Assist with the supervision of student assistants and interns

  • Responsible for role modeling behaviors and leadership for student-athletes

  • This position will also include additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer and/or Director of Athletics.

  • Participate in significant campus activities including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend. 

  • Comply with all Federal, State, local, NCAA, Empire 8 Conference, and College Department regulations, rules, policies and procedures.

  • As a college representative, this person is expected to comport themselves in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus.  No inappropriate relationships with students.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Athletic Trainer or related degree from an accredited college or university.

  • 1-3 years of Collegiate athletic training experience.

  • National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).

  • NYS Athletic Trainer Licensure or eligible to be licensed.

  • First-Aid and Professional Rescuer CPR/AED certified.

  • Effective written and verbal communications, computer, and web related skills.

  • Available weekday late afternoons, evenings, and some weekends. Travel as needed.

  • Must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and be insurable through the College.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years NCAA Division III Collegiate Athletic Training Experience.

  • First-Aid/CPR instructor certification preferred (American Red Cross preferred).

Candidate should possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and both written and verbal communication skills.  Candidates must be a role model and leader while in the Athletic Training areas.  The ability to multitask and handle a job with ongoing daily changes and basic supervisory skills is a plus.  General computer skills required, including Microsoft software (Word, Office, Excel, etc.).  Must have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of NCAA regulations as they relate to sports medicine.

Pay Range: $36,160 - $43,187 10month salary
